Step 3: Surrendering to Re(DIS)covery
A POLE ADDICT'S GUIDE TO RE(DIS)COVERY: Step 3
Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of The Great Chrome One as we understood "Him".
We humbly recognize that we are powerless over our pole dance addiction and welcome the sanity that's been ushered into our lives due to this liberating obsession. We thrive on each and every pole-fix and will stop at nothing to satisfy our cravings. We have turned our will and lives over to the care of The Great Chrome One because, without "Him", we are nothing.
We approach The Great Chrome One with humility; knowing that only time, dedication and resilience will allow us to progressively develop and sustain a relationship with Him. We have to acquaint ourselves with Him slowly, knowing that if we rush into things we can get hurt. We recognize His unshakable power and the fact that we can never match His strength. We must be the malleable ones in the relationship; willing to conform, bend and twist to complement and add beauty to His dominant, vertical stature.
In addition to having a healthy fear of the Great Chrome One, we have to honor our individual process of getting to know Him and developing an intimate relationship with Him. We have to lose our ego and be willing to make mistakes knowing that, through mistakes, art is born. We have to be willing to surrender, even if it results in bruising or injury. After all, those things heal with Epsom salt, Traumeel and a little massage therapy. We'll do anything to accelerate our recovery so we can get our pole fix.
Our commitment to developing a beautiful and harmonious relationship with The Great Chrome One is unwavering. We explore our partnership with Him in all dimensions; not just limiting ourselves to the monotony of climbing and inversions but finding creative ways to spin, dance and perform floor-work around Him, with Him and for Him. And we're in an endless quest to perfect each move with technical proficiency and artistry. We won't settle for simplicity but seek complexity, intricacy and individual style. We won't tolerate sloppy transitions, lazy feet, or choppy movement. Feminine strength, technical skill, fluidity, grace and flexibility are our goals.
As we continue to turn our will and lives over to The Great One, people may begin to judge and question us which leads us to our next step towards RE(DIS)COVERY...
