Flexibility to gain! Today is your first flexibility training session. The first week was designed to introduce you to stretching and help you learn proper body positioning. So far you’ve been training to maintain using static/passive stretches.

Today you’ll be training to increase flexibility. This means warming up is very important, do not skip this part. Don’t forget to breathe while you stretch because if you can’t breathe through a stretch you’re most likely pushing too far.

You may combine this day with another workout!

Lower body routine is your warm up, if you need to do it twice to feel nice and warm do so.

For today, I want you to use Active stretching which is actively holding your body or contracting the targeted muscle group during the stretches. If you need a refresher on for any of the stretches used in the routine click here to see the full tutorials used in the routine. They will be listed as related tutorials and links in the description.

Responses

  1. I seem to get a bit stiff by the end of Front Splits routine (not so much for the middle ones). Should I break it up into to sessions with a second warm up in the middle?

  2. I have never been able to do splits.. I can get close to the ground but not all the way.. And even when i do that i feel alot of stretching. I am so excited that we are working on flexibility…

  3. This was a really good split training routine! I have done a few others before but this one seemed to be the most comprehensive. I LOVED using the foam roller for the ending stretches and I was able to go down much further just because I was balancing on the foam roller and I was in alignment. Thank you for this! Excited to continue!
