Markstarr Pole?
Posted by Bootyheffer on July 12, 2009 at 7:08 amI just saw someone post a link to markstarr for their poles, I’ve been trying to find a sturdy cost effective pole and I’m pretty sure the only options my husband is going to give me is this one, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif or building our own… Has anyone used a pole from markstarr? And how safe are they? Thanks Girlies (And Guys!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

MarkStarr??? Never heard of them. I tried Googling them and it is like it doesn’t exist. Even went to MarkStar.com (another website said that was the name and it is like some private website) and MarkStarr.com (with two R’s is a hypnotist’s website). If you can’t research it I would be really weary. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif Where do you buy these poles? Who makes them?
If they are anything like the Peek-A-Boo or Carmen Elektra pole, don’t buy it.

You need two As. http://www.markstaar.com/product/2-POLISHED-BRASS-DANCE-POLE-KIT.html
They are cheap, but I wouldn’t recommend them b/c they don’t look very secure. It looks like there is a rubber stopper holding the grip to the floor or ceiling and the mount looks pretty flimsy. IMHO, your best bet is the Xpole. VERY secure and the best quality material I’ve seen. Plus you get a spinner option with it.

markstaar makes permanent poles. The supply poles for bars/clubs and a lot of studios use their poles (brass). I have used them they are plenty sturdy as they are permanently mounted into a joist (not like a Lil Mynx but actually fixed to the ceiling.)
The only bad thing is markstaar will not give a weight limit on their poles.

So… I kinda forced my husband to make a decision https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
and he said that when our loan goes through if we still have money after we pay
our bills he will get me an x-pole!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gifHe said if we don’t have the money he will let me drill holes in the ceiling
(and possibly floor) to build my own https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gifSo now just the waiting game!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Cross your fingers I get an x-pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_elephant.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_dwarf.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_study.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_viking.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_DJ.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bigsmurf.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_farao.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_king.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_porc.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif

I hope you get an X-Pole!!!! *crossing fingers* If the hubs needs any more convincing tell him:
1) If you ever move you won’t have to worry about fixing the damage from screws. Fixing holes and patching up the ceiling can be costly. The X-Pole might be more expensive at first but it is cheaper in the long run. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
2) With a removable pole you can take your pole with you to a friend’s house for a party or something.
3) You can take it down when guests come over. (I’m not ashamed of my pole but I know some guests might blush a bit.) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I think there are so many pro’s to owning a removable pole. I hope you get one. -
In case anyone searches for this thread in the future I wanted to let people know I did purchase a Markstaar and reviewed it on my blog and made an installation video. It's fine but I would not recommend it for most people. http://ascendingslowly.wordpress.com/2012/07/21/does-markstaar-make-a-good-dance-pole/
