    Can anyone give some pointers on this move??? I thought I would be pro-active and try a move that we didnt learn in class and I really like how you kick up into this one since its not from a basic invert or anything too common. Well, I can kick up and get my heel hooked on the pole, but when I do, right before I start to adjust and get the pole into my knee pit, my body leans the opposite way and well, i fell off a few times but wasnt hurt!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Any suggestions??? I tried kicking all the way so the pole just goes in my knee pit, but Im not strong enough and I got some junk in the truck to kick up…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

    Maybe try getting into the move a different way? That way you get a feel of the move, the knee on the pole really needs to be hooked properly.

    Heres a couple of vids of different ways to get into this one;

    From straight edge http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i20/loopylolacherrycola/th_Suzescombo.jpg

    From marksman http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i20/loopylolacherrycola/th_MVI_1269.jpg

    From shoulder mount http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNHr38pmZOc

    You can also get into it from a basic invert or a cross knee release. Or if you are ok at handstands you could try and get the leg hook from a handstand on the floor to the side of the pole

    Be careful, in particular getting out of brass monkey, I’ve nearly nose planted before now

    Thanks for the help! I have never actually tried a shoulder mount, but that looks like it may be the easiest way to get into it. I am gonna have to try a few of these and see what comes of it. I think I will end up having an unschedualed practice tonight!! Im kind of excited to give these a try. Thanks again!
