Tough Skin
Posted by Angeee on September 6, 2009 at 2:34 pmWhen does the skin ever feel comfortable enough to get use to sitting on the pole? I am **newbie** to the pole. I had to put my boots on yesterday. The boots made a world of difference but they really make my legs sweat:( Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think everyone is different when it comes to "when" the skin is desensitised (sp?). I'[ve been at this a while now and sometimes (right before that time of the month) my skin can still get a little sensitive…persistance is the main key It will eventually quit hurting! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

This took me months to feel totally comfortable. After about 5 weeks of lessons twice a week, I could sit up there and it still burnta bit but not enough to make me get down. Now I hardly even feel it when sitting on the pole.
Just keep practicing, sit yourself on the pole and count to 3 or 5 or however long you can manage, then jump down, fan your legs out, waddle around whatever hehehe – and then get right back up there and try again! I make my girls do it a few times every lesson at minimum. Nothing but perseverance and time with this one! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

Yeah everyone is different, try not to think about the horrific pain…try ponies and ice cream instead https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif and don’t forget to breath though the burn. Also one you become stronger and your more accustom to the moves you’ll start to rely less on just the skin to hold you up, and more on using the strength of your muscles https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif I will get better.

When I first started I remember the skin on my inner thighs would burn. I would keep ice packs handy and apply them to the area immediately after I was burned. That seemed to help a lot. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

like everyone’s been saying, it comes with time and consistancy. I like throwing on favorite songs and try and sing and "dance" in pole sits or whatever move feels like it is ripping my skin off as a distractions. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Having the music really loud seems to help so you can’t hear your skin sticking, stretching and sliding (sorry for the painful mental image). But honestly, keep practicing. It gets better.
