I just wanted to ask all you hard-working pole dancers what you use to…keep smelling fresh as a rose!

I have used the rock crystal on and off for YEARS. The reason for on-and-off is that after several months of dependable use, it suddenly doesn’t work anymore. I’ve got to take a break from it, and then go back. Right now I’m using this awesome but expensive essential oil based spray that my sister sent me to try. So far so good!

I’ve tried commercial deodorants in the past but a) they’re almost all anti-perspirants and I don’t care about wetness, just odor, and b) they all leave white stains on black clothing.

    What’s in your medicine cabinet?

I use Dove (Is that in America?) Its an anti-perspirant deodorant that also reduces the amount of hair under your arms. It smells nice and I find it quite effective. In my hand bag I have a roll-on because its small. Its Sure aloe vera body respinsive. It smells pleasant and works quite well. I had been using Sanex deodorant and I found it was absolutely useless!!!
Hope you find something effective for you soon. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

This might sound bad… But when I practice/perform I don’t use any deodorant. It gets ALL over the pole, some have oils in them which make it hard for me to grip and other make my pole stiff and hard to spin on and they are all hard to clean off the pole. So I don’t wear any… Problem solved https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif If you don’t have major problems with smell or sweat try it. Also, when I practice/perform I don’t use moisturising body wash, you know body washes with oils infused (or whatever). I just use a bar soap like dove.Pease Out, Happy Poling!

The whole moisturizing thing is something I struggle with because I’m a dermatology nurse and I’m somewhat obsessed with healthy, moisturized skin lol. I spend at least 10 minutes every morning moisturizing with various lotions and oils and again every night before bed. Before I pole I have to do a alcohol wipe down if I’m still a bit lubed up. But since I lube up in the am and pole in the pm (before my evening lube session) it usually works out ok.

As far as deodee, I use the same secretcrystalcleargel thingy that Veena uses LOL. It works great for me because my prob;em is finding deodorants that dont clump up under my under arms and this one works great for me. I’m a sweatier than normal person and it helps with that too. I think each persons body chemistry is different so what works for one may not work for all.

You’re probably going to have to try several and it may end up being an antipersperant/deodorant combo since most companies combine the two.

OMG Sissy, the worst thing about poling for me is that I am a lotion addict! I had to laugh at your ritual description as I do the same. I had a friend in college who used to tease me about my "ointing rituals!" I use a different lotion or potion for face, neck, chest, legs, the list goes on! On days when I’m poling I skip it in the morning, and before bed then I coat myself in Kiehl’s Supremely Restorative Argan Dry Oil.
Only deodorant I’ve used for decades is Secret unscented solid. Yes it does leave white marks on clothes but no stinging or irritation on my sensitive skin. And I actually find that if it gets on the pole, it helps me stick! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I am the same! I’m not a horribly sweaty person so this isn’t much of an issue…but off of the pole I use Dove (that reduces hair growth…and I love it!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

LOL, yup! We do the same thing. My sister sells avon and i have like every lotion or cream they sell for whatever body part. I use a moisturizer for my face, a bust sculpter for my boobies, a lift and tuck cream for my tummy and butt, a cellulite cream for my thighs and butt, oil for my arms and legs and various prescribed things for some skin conditions I have and a different moisturizer for my feet! LMAO! Alot of those things I’m trying out for my sister, but even before I was doing that I still used some sort of something for almost every section of my body. My hubby laughs at me just like your room mate laughed at you I’m sure LOL.

So you can get Dove in the US. I love this one too and I have noticed a difference in my underarm hair! Yaay! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I use the hair minimising Dove too – effective as a deodorant/anti-perspirant, but absolutely rubbish as far as the hair reduction is concerned – guess I’m just a freaky hairy person!

I don’t use any deodorant at all because I don’t sweat under my arm normally. Or at least I did’nt noticed it before. But during pole class last week learning the teddy armpit hold, I was so sweaty on my armpit that I could’nt grip. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I kept sliding down leaving my sweat on the pole. Yuck. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif Cleaned off the pole of course. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Now, I’m looking for a deodorant that will keep me dry during my pole class so i can do the teddy. Any deodorant suggestion for dryness https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif

I too am a crystal user and have been for a couple years now. Once I started doing more armpit holds I noticed more deodorant marks on the pole. Its pretty embarrassing when someone can see your spiral of deodorant sludge wrapping the pole like a candy cane stripe! Plus, once you leave that on the pole and it gets all over your hands and body- it just makes long performances slippery. SO, I started using the crystal on pole days and I love it! No odor AND no streaks!

I haven’t had the problem of it not working but maybe that is because I try to only use it on pole days and regular stick deodorant on non pole days? Maybe the combo of the two helps? Anyway, I believe it to be the perfect solution for polers. Its expensive but it lasts forever. I only recently bought a new one because I dropped the last one and it broke.

I’m allergic to most over the counter deodorants. I can’t even sleep next to my husband if he’s wearing certain deodorants. We both take chlorophyll supplements which you can buy anywhere. I have also found that when I eat more tofu and less red meat I stink less! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

An oldie but goody… I recommend Avon deodorant which usually starts at $0.89, it dries quickly and is quite effective and leaves no residue. And also HIGHLY RECOMMEND waxing your armpits which(for me) is much more effective than deodorant and looks A LOT more attractive over time.

I sweat heavily at pole class but never have a problem with underarm wetness. If you are interested in ordering avon online… you can contact me at mailto:amygillard@wowway.com.

I love love love Secret Clinical Strength. It works so awesome! It even comes in waterproof which is great when I am wakeboarding! It works so good I use it in other places other than armpits. I use on my lower back and under/in between breast so I don’t get boobie sweat. Last thing I wanna see are wetspots on my back and under my boobs (especially shirts I dont’ wear bras with)! How embarrasing would that be?!?! I use it every night on those places after my shower and dry off. I put it on and don’t have to worry about putting it on the next morning. It is expensive, but it works great for me and smells good.
