    Congratulations!

I quit using chantix august of last year- and I haven’t had a cigarette since.

Just remember how SHORT the cravings are. Pop some gum in your mouth and ride it out! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

As I said on your blog…YOU ARE SOOOOO WORTH IT!! Please feel free to bug us with your ups and downs of this…..we are here for you and I’m super excited your making this change. I didn’t even know you were a smoker. Sometimes, its seems like you just have to get MAD about something that is controlling your life, to stomp it out of your life for good! You can do it. Fight that battle and win! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Iam so over being a "smoker" that I actually cry because I’m so excited to know that hopefully next week I will be smoke free! Reading everyone’s post has even made me get a little emotional b/c I guess in a way I’m mourning…but time heals right? I thank all of you lovely ladies for willing to be there for me!

I smoke any where b/n 10-15 a day…and mostly at work…not because I’m stressed but because…well honestly I can’t tell you why! But I could easily list three dozen reasons why I don’t want to! I’ve always tried to "hide" it from family and my kids have NEVER seen me light up…and I’m tired of having to hide something! Not for long!!

I plan on keeping my success posted on here!! I am holding myself accountable for it!! and I want everyone to help keep my butt in check!! lol

YAY! Good for you! It is such a hard habit to give up, but think how much better your life will be without them!! and not at all to bring the mood down, but i do want you to try and keep this in mind anytime you have a REALLY bad craving… my step-grandmother just passed away this morning from cancer, caused by her lifelong addiction to cigarettes… you were 100% right when u said it is a killer… You can do it Roxy!! We all know you can! You know you can too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif We love you and are so proud of you <3 xoxo

I’m so sorry about your grandmother *hugs*…that is one of my main reasons for quiting! Everyone in my family who smoked and didn’t stop smoking got one form or another of cancer and I don’t want to add to that!!

Hey! That’s awesome that you have great support and great reasons to quit. My stepfather smokes, and he’s tried quitting upwards of ten times, but I don’t think he really wants to quit for himself…more for my mom, ’cause she doesn’t like it. Now they’re separated, but that’s another story!
I agree with amcut, the cravings are short, and you can just ride it out! Think about it like getting a piercing (I’ve used this tactic!) the pain is gonna happen, but it’ll be short and quick, and in the long run, you’ll love it!

WOW roxy!! good for you girl! i’m a smoker myself, so i can imagine how hard it is.. i keep thinking about it, but it’s just so damn hard to make that decision! I truly admire you for attempting to do this. I really hope i can follow in your footsteps for this sometime soon. It’s just so freakin hard with 85% of the population in my country being smokers, and up till this past july, you could even smoke in some stores, banks & offices, let alone restaurants & clubs! I’m really proud of your decision & i know you can do it! i’m hoping i can do it too when i come to the US in december, where smoking is less encouraged than here. YOU GO GIRL!!!! we dont need this cancer-causing crap!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Go Roxy!! My mom is a lung cancer survivor and a former smoker. You can do this. And when all of NC goes non-smoking in January it will be even easier to hang in there. You can do it!! Imagine how nice it will be to taste food again. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

    Hi hun

I’m also stopping smoking this weekend so maybe we can support each other. I’ve tried and failed before and this time I’m just going to go cold turkey. My husband is on the champix (is it called chantix in the states?) and he is planning on stopping as well this weekend so hopefully we will both be smoke free soon.

I heard it takes 6 weeks to break a habit so that’s my aim. If I can keep it up for 2 months, then there is absolutely no reason to go back to smoking – apart from complete stupidness https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’ll add you as a friend and if you ever need a rant, please feel free x

Thanks everyone!!! It’s going to be tough but that’s okay!! If I can learn to do crazy ass stuff 15 ft in the air on a metal tube then I can learn how to not smoke!! lol!!

It’s great knowing that there are so many of you that I can lean on for support! It means the world to me. And for those of you (Loopielou and az) who want to quit…I’m here to support you too!

Naama I’m so thrilled and happy for you!! I wouldn’t have thought that you were a smoker. I’ve read that nicotine is more addictive than heroin but I’ve also heard that Chantix is an incredible tool for quitting. My good friend used it and she said quitting was easy for her except the part of having something to hold in her fingers.

I’ll say a few prayers for you! You are saving your own life and that’s what kick-ass pole divas do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I think you should reward yourself with a trip up this way for Karol Helm’s workshops January 9th! It’s not officially announced yet, but it’s definitely happening!
