Hello from Los Angeles!
Posted by cricket on November 23, 2009 at 6:17 pmHello! Longtime lurker here who decided to emerge from the shadows… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I’ve been pole dancing for around 5 years. Started at S Factor and made my way over to Be Spun and a new studio in Santa Monica called the Pole Garage that was started by a former S Factor instructor. I’ve also taken classes at Xpolesitions in North Hollywood. I’m pretty much a die-hard pole junkie and aim to take as many classes and workshops as I can. I’m 34, so getting a little old for the game, but I hope to be kickin’ it for many more years!
Happy to meet all of you!

Hello…Nice to meet you…you sound like me LOL
I am 41 and in Encino…did S Factor for years, then went to Bespun for a bit…then took one or two classes at Xpolesitions and Pole Dance Allure.
Did one session at Polistic (the owner trained at S) and now I am doing classes at Crunch and popping into S Factor for Pure dance classes from time to time as well as Pole Dance Allure for some spinny pole classes LOL.

Roxy-Pink: It’s true – we LA folks are spoiled with all the great studios and teachers we have in town! Back when I started (in 2004), S Factor was pretty much the only option. It’s great how quickly studios have cropped up. Now, you can take classes that are more focused on pole, or movement, or performance.
verucablue: How do you find the classes at Crunch?

They are actually fun…not so much dance oriented but more pole.
Monday night is the more advanced night of the 2. Tuesday night is fun though…teacher does a little more transitions and dance…she is not as strong on pole as the teacher for Monday night.
Both nights are pretty fun – I’m not mad at the classes…I can actually GET to class because they are later at night and they are FREE with my membership – which I love https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

cricket! i’ve seen your videos and absolutely love your style, i think your dances are a gorgeous blend of sensual and phsyical. sorry to sound like a fangirl, hhaah… welcome!!
i started at sfactor a couple years ago, but have been craving more physical challenge, so i’m also taking classes at crunch in NYC… wish there was a bespun or xpolesitions in NY!

verucablue: Do you have a teacher named Stella teaching there by any chance? She’s a pole-buddy, but I haven’t seen her in a while and I hear she’s started instructing there. Please tell her I say ‘hi’ if you run into her https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif She’s awesome.
amyxshi: Thanks for the kind words – that’s really sweet! Have you checked out the classes at NYPD (New York Pole Dancing) in NYC: http://www.nypoledancing.com/? Wendy and Anna are both fabulous. I always do drop-ins when I’m in the city on business.
There’s also a studio in NYC called Shockra Studio: http://www.shockrastudio.com/ that Marlo Fisken teaches at. She’s been in LA this week and I was lucky to see her in action. I’ve never taken classes at Shockra, but Marlo’s amazing!
Nice to meet the both of you!

Hi Madorie! Lindsey and I were just talking about you the other day – we miss seeing you around! I heard about the jazz dance injury https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif How are you recovering?

you know, i only recently started getting more interested in learning tricks and branching outside of sfactor… i have been planning to try a class with marlo (since i saw her at pole superstar) and also nypd for a while! thanks for reminding me of nypd =)

I miss you too! My foot’s a lot better but lost a lot of muscle. I’m going to go back to pole classes in Dec. I tried some stuff on my friend’s pole and I can still climb, do the helicopter, superman, and descending angel! So, I’ll be limited to that until I get my strength back. Not too bad though, right? See you soon!
