So I’ve done some cute twirls in my gorgeous 6 1/2" pleasers, successfully covered my less-than-graceful landing with some sexy floorwork… and I can’t get up. At least, not without scrabbling round on the floor like a toddler finding its feet. Which is oh-so-glamorous when you’re trying to look seductive.

Anybody got any pointers on standing up smoothly (and simply) when wearing ridiculously high platform heels?? Thanks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

Get on your knees!!! Move into a position that will allow you to get onto your knees ( so if your on your butt, your can slide over on to your knees and move on from there like this… place one foot on the floor while the other knee stays on the floor, use your pole or keep your hands in front of you on the floor, to stable yourself, then slowly drag that other foot up behind you as you come to a standing position. Slow is the key, drag everything, your foot, roll your body up, head…everything smoooooth. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

I kinda like the way that S Factor teaches this, and it is better to learn in bare feet and then apply to heels. The start is just like Veena explained. From your knees you are going to put your weight onto your right butt cheek and then raise your left foot onto your toes. Shift your butt from your right heel onto your left heel (kind of sitting on it) and then lift your right foot onto your toes…you will sort of pivot a little. You will look like you are in a deep squat with your weight on both heels, but you are on your toes. From there put your hands on your thighs, stick your butt out and bring it up first, followed by your upper body.

I was trying to find a video that showed this but have not been successful…..

What I do in heels is to sit in kind of an attitude position, sweep the free leg all the way around so the toes are pointed coward, while bending my knee slightly so I can get weight on that foot. Meantime I am shifting my hips upward so there by the time I got a leg forward, my center of gravity is close enough to stand using that leg. Then I can do whatever I want with the other. Sounds complicated but I swear it’s easy and pretty!

Thanks guys! I hope to put this into practise if I have time to do my December challenge before I go away on holiday!

i often get up from my knees by sloooowly (makes the awkwardness look intentional – and sexy!) to one foot and then the other. Booty (for balance) is often involved. Also, it is easier to be sitting on your shins and kind of rolling up onto both feet using the tops of your feet. This method is often accompanied by rug burn and floor bruises, however, but just like all pole related injuries, it goes away! Watch videos of girls doing floor work for tips and practice slooow and controlled floor work on your own and it will get more and more graceful. Everyone gets tangled up in their platforms at first!

I never thought I would refer anyone to this video for anything since it’s basically me humping the pole for 4 minutes but…in the newest video I posted I do a lot of floor work and you can see one of the most basic ways I stand up in heels, it’s at 1:30-ish and it’s super easy! Using the pole for balance, Just put one foot on the floor and stand up LOL. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

If you’re offended by butt cheeks and floor humping don’t watch! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

what veena wrote is exactly what we used to do in the troupe when dancing, we’d wear these ridiculously awesome black high heeled boots and it looks super sexy when you get up slowly from your knees
