Spinning from half handspring?
So yesterday I was walking past my pole and got the urge to try a cartwheel mount. I watched Glitter’s video on it and had one of those light bulb moments where I realized what Glitter was doing wrong and that I was doing the same thing in the same instant (kinda a freaky experience, actually…). So I thought I would give it a go. I was just in my jeans and a sweatshirt, but no change of clothes required for this kind of thing.
I didn’t have any luck with the cartwheel, although it’s a lot better than I’ve been able to do in the past. But just for the heck of it, I went for a half handspring to butterfly. I’ve done it in the past, but it’s been a while.
One problem I always had was my body spinning when I push the lower arm straight, but it wasn’t too bad when I was "in my prime" several months ago. This was my first attempt since getting back on the pole, and I should’ve known better…
I spun too much and my top hand lost its grip, and I was wearing jeans, so… *thump!* down I went. I turned my body and lifted my head just enough that my right shoulder took the blow, but I had quite the headache afterward. I tried a couple other cartwheels (the whole "getting back on the horse" thing, so I won’t be afraid to try again) then went to look for some pain killers… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_blackeye.gif
My advice: use a mat…
Anyone have some advice for me on how to stop the spinning? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
