X Pole on Stucco
I bought and X Pole months ago and have been dying to put it up! I now have a performance coming up in 1 month and need to practice all the time. However my x pole wont fit in my basement, the ceilings are too low, and my husband will not let me put it up upstairs because the ceilings are stucco.
Also we live in an old house and he feels it will damage the entire ceiling. I have explained to him that it wont and small amounts of stucco may come off.Now our stucco is also coated with some type of varnish, if I rub my hand across it nothing moves and its quite solid. It seems a bit different than stucco…
He thinks the pole is going to almost "crush" in the ceiling. Plus he talks to all his friends who think they know everything so of course they agree.
What should I do? Any one have experience with this? Would plywood help? Ugh I am feeling so defeated…. -

I’m not sure how much the top of an X-pole comes in contact with the ceiling, being as I have a ‘homemade’ pole, but we have stucco ceilings in our home and we were told that if you put a cloth between the ceiling and the part of the pole coming in contact with the stucco it should minimize the potential for any damage.
Again, I don’t know if this is possible with an X-pole or not. But if it is maybe it will help pursue your husband into letting you put it up. And if that doesn’t work, you can always be a bad girl and sneak it up when he’s not home? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I wouldn’t put anything between the upper dome and the ceiling due to risk of the pole falling, but I do know for a fact x-pole should not damage stucco ceilings. At minimum a couple teeny bits could flake off, but literally not even enough to notice.
My dad thought it would damage the ceiling, so when I brought my pole home, I just put it up and used it and took it down. Then when he asked, I said, "well I already put it up. and took it down. right there *points*"
And he just went "well, I sure as hell can’t tell where it was." and that was that. And that’s my dad. Your main ain’t your daddy. So just put it up and to hell with him, cause it won’t hurt your ceiling one bit. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
