My Pole is Dangerous
SO I just recently bought a Platinum Stages brass super pole,
and I love brass, because of the grip, so i was really happy initially.But I am really getting to the end of my rope because it is SO unbelievably slippery, I can’t do anything on it.
I am truly frustrated and have broken down in tears several times during a practice because as soon as I get into a move, I’ve slid to the bottom. So its been impossible for me to really work on new moves that I know I have the strength for but I just slip. I absolutely cannot grip it…
When I touch the pole it feels like liquid, like there is a coating of water on it.
usually I have to climb the pole several times (muscle it!) so I can get it to warm up and become a little more grippy but it won’t stay that way for long.
I bought mighty grip and that only seems to make it worse.
Its not me, its not that I have a super sweaty problem, its the pole!!So I don’t know if its because its winter, or the temperature in my apartment, or dry skin….i dont know what it is or what to do. basically its just super frustrating.
I need some kind of super grip aid.Does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with this? I have never had this problem with a pole before.
has anyone used Cramer’s firm grip? is there really a huge difference between grip aids?
I want one that really works….lol -

For some reason I thought that I read somewhere that brass poles are shipped with a coating on them that needs to be removed. Can anyone confirm this? I cannot access Platinum Stages web site from work.

Someone else started a thread not too long ago about their brass pole seemingly "sweating" every time she cleaned it… I don’t know if this is what you’re experiencing but here’s the thread if you want to look:

Didn’t really come to a conclusion, except that it was a problem exclusive to brass poles. :-/ Good luck

do you use alcohol to clean it? cleaning brass poles with alcohol is VERY VERY bad. it strips the finish off of it and makes it very slick. the studio i go to has brass poles and there is alcohol there, but only for your hands. there are a million posters stating not to clean the pole with alcohol, but only with windex.
