Ok, so I thought I’d give this a go today and ended up falling off the pole when I got into position because it hurt my hip bone/rib cage so much.

I’m very short waisted so I’m not sure if its because the pole is just too snug between my hip bone and rib cage. I’m trying to arch back and stick my tummy out a bit so that I’m more wrapped around the pole but it hurts quite a bit.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I just bruised my hip and ribs trying this move again, so I’m not much of a help. I feel like the area between my hip bones and lowest floating ribs is too narrow for the pole.

I’m short waisted too and thought I was going to crack a rib when I first started trying this one. Try going into it from a flatline scorpio, get that inside hand in place, then roll your outside shoulder to the floor. That forces the pole into the soft spot between your hip and ribs and forces the back to arch as you roll down. This worked for me at least, and now I get the pole in the right spot every time – no bruises but plenty of pole burn https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have a hard time maintaining my grip when I get into position. I’ve tried everything including mighty grip. I just ordered a 45mm pole. Hopefully that will work better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif

I’ve tried getting into it from many positions including a flatline Scorpio. Getting in from the flatline, I can hold for a milisecond and this hurts my hip bones. The only time I’ve been able to hold it for any period of time is from an invert, hold with inside arm and leg, then reach behind with outside arm to grab pole below myself, take inside hand off and grab behind leg. I managed to stay on the pole for a while but this was the occasion that left my ribs sore enough for me to take a few days off the pole…sooo… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

I learned this move over the weekend, and I found it easier to get into when I invert on the right (my dominate). I don’t remember if I had any pain in my hips and/or ribs, but I have two huge bruises on the top of my thighs. Getting into the position was definitely weird, especially when trying to maneuver my hand behind my leg.

I go into this move from a scorpio (inside leg hang.) Important though to hook the inside leg farther down the calf and push the hooked foot down so the shin is parallel to the floor. If you do that, you’ll create a space behind your knee where you can easily place your inside hand.
So, I do a scorpio, sit up, place inside hand behind knee on pole. Open up shoulders and drop outside hand to the pole below me. Then, straighten hooked leg.
If you haven’t made the space behind your knee for your hand, when you straighten your leg you will knock your hand off the pole. And fall. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif
I naturally do scorpio with my leg hooked at calf anyway so this move was very easy for me to get.
    I hope this helps!
