I really like Degree Clinical Protection. It’s one of the few Anti-presperants that I can wear with dress shirts and not have to worry about sweat stains!

    What are you currently using?

i use secret.. i really like the conditioning solid…sometimes secret doesn’t have it and i’ll get suave or Dove if they have it. i don’t really like the gel. Isn’t the degree clinical protection the one in the box that like $10?

I’d like to just say…I’ve heard that Anti-perspirant is very bad for you, and can lead to a series of health problems, including (as always) cancer. I’ve known many women who have "lumps" under their arms, and their doctors are positive it’s because they are using anti-perspirants. If you think about it, an anti-perspirant actually prevents and blocks the body from sweating, which helps you cool down, it helps the body release toxins, and all sorts of other things. Can you imagine what would happen if you clogged all that for so many years?
That said, unfortunately I’m still stuck with the old stick…I still haven’t found anything more natural and not an anti-perspirant, since they’re so popular. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I also have an odd problem…it looks like acne, but it’s not. It seems to come up randomly, when I shave, and especially when I use the stick under my arm. Any ideas? It’s just red bumps, pretty itchy, centred on the underarm area. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Yeah. Secret makes a stick that helps with razor burn bumps. That’s what it sounds like.

I have had that problem since my teen years. I would pit-out and stain my clothes. It was uncomfortable and embarassing. My doctor said I had hyperhidrosis, which is abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Mine is the primary kind which occurs when puberty starts or is genetic. There is a secondary version that can start at any point in life and may be caused by a lot of things including disorders of the thyroid or pituitary gland and even mercury poisoning. I would definately ask your doctor about it if I were you – it could be a warning sign of something. If it is the primary version, my doctor told me to use "Certain-Dri". It is a roll-on anti-perspirant you apply at night before bed, then in the morning you use your regular deodorant (I like Dove brand). Since I started using it – I never have a problem unless I haven’t applied the Certain-Dri a few nights in a row. I love it – it totally works for me.
As for the red bumps – I tend to get those when I need to replace the razor blade on my razor. Also using shave cream on my pits also helps. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I hope this helps. Take care and good luck! ^_^

Thanks ladies! I would never have guessed the razor https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif I’ll change the blade and see what happens!

Also make sure you are using long, clean strokes with the razor, and not little *swipeswipeswipe* motions. Apply cream, make clean strokes, and if you’re going to go over an area again re-cream/soap it. That little "oops I missed a spot" swipe over skin you’ve already shaved the cream off of can make the blade catch on your skin and cause bumps.

Have you ever tried a deoderant stone/crystal?? My mom used to use one. It’s only good for people that mildly sweat though.
Here’s one in case you don’t know what I’m talking about http://www.grassrootsstore.com/lafescrystaldeodorantstone.aspx
You should be able to buy them at health food stores or online.

And i agree with the other girls. I think the bumps are from your razor. Try changing the blade and see if that helps. Make sure your skin is wet or use shaving cream when shaving your armpits. That should help to reduce the bumps. Also, most deoderants/anti-persperants include an ingredient that helps to prevent razor burn/bumps and ingrown hairs. That’s why lots of women use deoderant instead of shaving cream when they shave their "area".

I actually like the scent of some of the mens’ deodorants out there, the one I started using is Old Spice High Endurance Invisible Solid "Fresh". It doesn’t smell over-powerful like most of them do but I kinda smell a little on the dude-ish side so I spritz myself with a perfume or body spray to help. I haven’t bothered to get the usual Secret in that powdery scent lately because I just use that.

You can also find personal body wipes, I’m not sure what they’re called exactly but it’s supposed to make you feel refreshed. I would just go with baby wipes though, since it’s practically the same thing.
sidenote about those baby wipes: they were the original face wipes that takes makeup off quite nicely before a bunch of companies started making facial cleansing wipes. I prefer the good ‘ol cheap variety, the baby wipes!

Also, I noticed that I got bumpies after shaving so I switched to using my conditioner instead of shaving gel and used softer pressure. The conditioner makes my skin soft too, which is a plus.
