I got the SM!!!
Posted by Foxy_Rei on March 6, 2010 at 4:34 amI’m so effing excited!
I got a crappy kicking up and not cool shoulder mount last year before my pole sabbatical, and I haven’t even been able to do that since I returned to pole in January. But tonight I was asking Azriel and Stellar for tips because I’ve been hitting my collarbone when attempting it…
Well, I logged out of chat and I tried it and GOT IT! And that’s the hold- I was so excited I didn’t get the chance to try it to get on the pole!
And I was able to do a somewhat controlled shoulder dismount, too – did it close to the floor so I wouldn’t hurt my back if I lost it.
YAY!!

Love it! Looks amazing…that is the grip I use for a successful SM too!

Woohoo! Aint respect grip grand?? I can’t tell you how bad my shoulder bruises were with cup grip. Respect is so nice and easy on the shoulder, I can practice superinverts all day long. That’s beautiful for a first shot!
SM is really one of those moves where you don’t have it until you do, and then you DO! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Lol thanks everyone! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
bebeduckie – I’m not really sure what I did different… I actually did the dismount first. I pretended I was going to do a forward roll off the pole, but slowly – got close to the floor but not touching it. Gripped the pole, curled my back to get my shoulder on the pole, and very slowly "rolled". I just kinda ended up in the position and was able to hold it on the way down, and it was one of those "ah-ha!" moments. I jumped up and tried the mount from standing and did it!
But the grip was a big part – I’ve been playing with the other ones for a while, and this grip felt best for me. So it’s called the respect grip, then? I’ve been calling it twisted grip or the Felix grip. (meh… labels). But it doesn’t put as much pressure on my boney collarbone, so that’s why I like it.

Wow! That is impressive to get a yay from webmaster, but the shoulder mount is a hard move! I finally got mine last night at a pole jam!!!!! I was so excited I just held it there screaming. I think I was excited and scared at the same time! LOL! CONGRATS!!!

Ah your picture looks really good. I always hurt my collar bone https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif – can you explain the best grip for me please?
Thaaaank you xxxx

thanks !! i’ve never tried the grip like that, but maybe i should! i have collarbone hurty issues that i cant seem to shake. i swear it’s bc of the long torso, short leg syndrome so i can’t reach my legs around the pole unless i "invert" more.
