Corkscrew
Posted by isisandshiva on April 6, 2010 at 11:00 pmso what I know as a corkscrew most people seem to call a cradle, so what I want to know is how to do the thing that most seem to call a corkscrew, it’s like an armpit holding spin thing, has anyone seen a tutorial for it or can ya’ll give me a description of how to do it, because it looks so pretty but I have no clue.

Also remember to come across the pole diagonally and not straight down. Don’t be crackin’ your ribs!
..I think.. divinemovement on youtube has a corkscrew tutorial.

thanks amcut, I found that tutorial, I still can’t get it but it’s looking better than it was before.

Oh that one (ouch) I always end up with the inside of my arm that stick to the pole and…ouch. It may take a while but we can do it. Hope you have more luck than me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I was the same as tiggertail to begin with. The first time we tried it I looked at my instructor with the most accusing glare of "why the hell did you just do that to me". It really hurt, but as with everything it fades.
The main problem I have with it now is I can’t hold it, I always end up landing too early.
I don’t know whether everyone has been taught the same but I was told to make sure you swing round so you have your back to the pole so you can arch around it? That was the trouble i was having that I wasn’t going far enough round so the position was harder to hold?
Don’t think I explained that very well, but hopefully you get the idea lol. If you have issues with your inner arm catching we tried it wearing long sleeves until we’d got the general principle down and then tried without because it does hurt if you catch your skin! but maybe that’s just me being a wuss https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif lol -
I don’t have this move yet, but I’m working on it. It doesn’t seem like it should be that hard… BUT IT IS!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif And my poor arm! OUCH! Sometimes I can do the spin fairly well, and it doesn’t hurt, but I can’t quite figure out how my body position is different.
One tip that helps me get it sometimes is to make sure I look at my feet when they are in the attitude-like position. This forces my body to curve around a little more.
This move looks so pretty and effortless when done right… Maybe one day, mine will too.
Oh — and check out the on in this video at 4:50: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlS_yoyDyuw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I really like the way she gets into the spin, and how controlled she is– oh and that she does it one handed!
