    Well done you pole-twista!!! It’s a great move https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Personally I need to get really focused and believe in the body’s strenght to do a good pencil / rubber pen.
As soon as nerves fail, it’s a bit scary.

i think it’s easier to find the balance with the legs from an iguana mount… not sure why, something about starting with your legs in front of you… could try it from there?

What is the difference between a pencil mount and an iguana mount? Whats a rubber pencil? Is that just where your legs are bent back? Annnd when you do this mount is your dominant hand above or below the other?

Im starting to work on this one finally and think I should know the terminology first =P
Its so much easier on a 45mm pole!! I wish I had a 45 at home! Then again…everything is easier on a 45mm IMO.

The balance part I think should come from keeping the core engaged…because basically you need to use your core to be balanced even when your sitting or standing. Engaging my core helps me…so hopefully it will help you =]

Pencil mount and iguana mount are two names for the same thing. (Where you start as a drinking giraffe, with your hands holding the pole behind your back and lifting up your legs).
I like to have my dominant hand on top.
Rubber pencil is when you hanging in pencil position and bend your legs back on both sides of the pole, arch your back, and let the pole rest on your shoulder:

I agree with the statements about the 45mm and the core! You’ll get there! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

I can do the iguana mount as well as a pencil from CAR, but it doesn’t feel very secure, then I realized I had my head lined up straight with the pole with no shoulder touching. Which shoulder do you girls rest your pole on? The side with the hand on top or the bottom? I’ve tried but ways but nothing feels right.

In the regular pencil the pole rests between my shoulder blades. For the rubber pencil I use the side with the hand on the bottom. So right hand on top, left shoulder on pole.
    Good luck!
