so my apartment is all tile..i have a carpet in the living room. I wanna set my pole up in my room tho, so where can i buy a safety mat, but for not like a whole bunch of money. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

I’m not sure where to buy a safety mat…I think I’ve seen some on amazon, but the cheaper (and just as effective way) is to just take the cushions off you couch and lay them around the bottom of your pole. I have a microfiber couch, and the cushions don’t come off, but this has worked for others. I don’t ever use a crash mat, and when i’m doing something scary I just put throw pillows and bed pillows under me. fortunately, I’ve never fallen (knock on wood) so I don’t know how effective my method is.

I have a safety mat that is basically a fold out bed. I got it at costco and it really offers great protection for those falls. It cost me around $45. Worth it…you dont wanna hurt yourself https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif:):)

I stocked up on patio furniture cushions and they work like a charm! A couple of times now I’ve been glad they were there (stupid cold stainless https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif ), and knowing you’ve got a cushy place to land if something does go wrong gives you the guts to try new things! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_blackeye.gif

i have to use my couch cushions right now because i cant afford a pole crash mat. they (the couch cushions) are annoying because you have gaps between them & that not really so safe in my book. also i don’t want to use grip aid when i am using my couch cushions because i don’t want to ruin them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif the real pole crash mats have velcro on the edges so they stay together nicely, they wipe clean so you can totally use a grip aid & you can even wear heels on them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif i want to get the professional pole-o-mat when i have the $$ to buy it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif right now i have to limit myself a lot because i can’t afford to get hurt.

there are several other mats out there too! google "pole crash mat" & decide what would work best for you!

**ETA i have cement floor under the carpet in my pole room so that is a big reason i am all for pole crash mats, it could be really bad if i "crashed" into the cement while trying to do inverts. i can’t afford to break my neck/shoulder/back & i kinda look at it as "safety insurance" if you don’t spend the $150-$300 & you get hurt it could cost a whole lot more than that to get you better! think about it… doctors bills, possibly having to pay for physical therapy (depending on how severe the injury) & missing work… all of those things could set anyone back in a really bad way! not to mention missing out on pole until you recover from said injuries https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif better safe than sorry!!!
