  • Where does powder coating rank in terms of grippiness?

Decisions, decisions….There are just too many options when it comes to pole finishes, sizes, and brands for someone as decision-making challenged as I am! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I am tending to lean toward the Lil Mynx poles because I like the permanent roof attachment that makes the Lil Mynx faster and easier to remove than a multi-piece pole. I’ve read that their stainless steel version is much more slippy than other stainless brands out there, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can about their powder coated version.

Where does powder coating rank with the other finishes (brass, stainless, titanium, chrome) as far as grippiness goes? Can one do spins on it as easily as poses? What finish is most similar to powder coating and how does it compare to other finishes?

Thank you all so much for your help! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

As much as I love my powder coated I would shy away from it. I have ripped skin off my legs on mine on many occasions. Also, there is only a little over 7′ of actual usable pole, the rest is a tube that slides in and out of the top of the pole and is not usable. Many people also have had issues with the top piece eating through their ceiling and the pole coming loose or leaving a huge hole in their ceiling. If you are going directly into wood it is not too bad.

For grippiness brass, titanium gold and chrome seem to be the best.

LM is cheaper and I do recommend them to people on a budget but the reality is that I was not please with mine.

BECAUSE it’s only 1 screw holding up your pole, everytime you swing on the pole you are pulling it and eventually (and it totally doesn’t matter how tight it is) that screw will "eat" through the joist and you will have to move you pole. This happened to mine.

I recommend X-Pole or Platinum Stages.

I personally don’t care for titanium or brass because they get really grippy onthe body and tear off skin – but I know a lot of people who LOVE titanium and brass (I’m an odd ball)

A good solid pole is th X-pole…You can get a 45mm Chrome X off of http://www.houseofpole.net. Sissy will take care of you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Yikes! I don’t want to rip skin off myself, or rip up my hubby’s garage roof! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I’m probably better off steering away from these poles. Thanks for your help, Charley and Chemgoddess!
