Well , needless to say I’m a little paranoid to pole..I don’t have a blood clot in my leg, but it was a scare. It all started when I went in Monday to my first actual class (have just been poling @ home) did a hr there for evaluation and then attended my hr class on Tuesday. I got my (as my husband likes to refer to them) dalmation legs that night from all the dot bruises. Wednesday I woke up really sore my calf had been sore mainly. It was my leg that hooks first when I go into a invert..well fast fwd to Thursday around 2pm. I got this new bruise almost 48hr after last being on the pole (weird) and it was a little bigger then my fist and bright red. Everyone thought it was a blood clot just bc of its behavior and looks. Thankfully its not (went and got it checked) but it just reminds you to be carefull..dvt can happen from truama to the leg..and well I kept hitting the leg over and over during class for inverts. I wanted to let everyone know though to be careful, watch and listen to your body and don’t over do yourself..bc a blood clot could happen..and that’s something none of us want to deal with! Happy and safe poling https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

omg i know! my father almost died bc of a blood clot in his leg. my doc wants me on birth control pills bc of a cycst on my ovary that could turn cancerous, but i won’t bc am too worried about poling and clots w/o added risk of bc pills. i would be DEVASTATED if i couldn’t pole. i think my chances have gone down dramatically as am alot stronger and have better control now so am not bruised ankle to hip lik ei used to. rarely bruise at all anymore excpet if try knee hold too many times in a week. thanks for the concern though!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I was at the point where I rarely bruised anymore..but I had moved and it had been a good 3-4 weeks since I did any serious poling. And I got pushed way too hard between the 2 back to back nights. I’m gonna pole still but definetly will be taking extra caution

I’m really glad you got things checked and its ok. After you sent me that pic last night and told me your symptoms, I was really worried. Although it is very rare to develop a blood clot from being on birth control alone. Often DVTs (Deep Vein Thrombosis/Blood Clots) form when you have multiple risk factors working against you as well.

DVT can be a serious and its important to seek immediate attention if you suspect you have one. Pole dancing does pose a risk to forming DVTs because of potential for traumatic leg injuries. However its not something we should be consistently worried about, it is good to be educated on this issue and know what to look for in case it happens. I’m glad you brought this up and to everyones attention. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif
