So since joining this site last week I finally taught myself to do the Gemini, Scorpio, and hip hold. Of course I got giant bruises everywhere, but of course I am also excited about them and can’t stop doing them every night after I have a few drinks. What’s worrying me is I have tremendous bruising from the hip hold — and it’s right up in my groin, like next to the fold of my leg. Not on my pubic bone but next to it. I have NEVER bruised myself there before (ok maybe once …). Am I doing it wrong? Is that where this move is supposed to rest? Owwie https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I can see two reason for that maybe you don’t put the pole deep enough so when pull your leg you really wrap around the pole or/and to push too hard to hold yourself. If the pole in not in the right spot you may have to press harder against the pole.

These are the main raisons i see also when i do that move i push my leg out a little bit before pulling down than in place.I don’t know if that make sence lol Veena explain it so better.

also i thought someone said on a different thread that alcohol can make you bruise easier, so maybe if you’re only poling after drinks thats happening to you, especially in the more sensitive area? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

Haha polebunny… hmm, well, I do many moves regularly that don’t bruise me at all anymore, so I don’t think it’s drinking. Once in a while I "throw" myself into a move after a few glasses of wine, but I’ve been pretty careful with the hip hold. I think it’s that I don’t have the self restraint to stay off my bruised leg because I get so excited to bust out my new moves https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m going to take a break from it this weekend, hopefully let the bruises go away, and try it again next week … maybe I will "feel" the balance of the move better and it won’t put as much force on the crease of my hip! Tiggertail I’ll rewatch Veena’s video too and see if she says anything that clicks with me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yes, a little bit of time in between to let things toughen up will do you good. My scorpio leg is sensitive, it’s also the side for my hip holds (for most people too). If I go too long without workin’ it or work it too much, the pain worsens. You have to find the right balance. Congrats on your new moves! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
