Tic Toc?
Posted by MilienElayne on August 29, 2010 at 3:54 amSo what exactly is it? Is it a sort of Jade with the hand on and exit to stand. Or is it a hands on Jade ending in Chopstix (splits facing down)? Or is it the Jade to Allegra transition? I am confused.
Any vids of it out there?
Just got my Jade back (such a simple thing I was doing wrong… big, but simple). I have to do it from Scorpio to Hiphold pike then out instead of Gemini to Hip hold pike… my hip stopped contacting the pole at some point transitioning from Gemini, which was stopping my split from getting flat because I couldn’t tip it at all trying to hold it all on my leg. Anyhooooo. Now I’m excited to get my Allegra back (I think it is the same P.O.C issue) and to try the Tic Toc I’ve heard about obscurely.

According to Alethea, in the comments, there is a tic toc here at 3:09. It does suit the name! Her free leg starts with foot pointing towards the ceiling, then swinging down to point towards the floor, like a clock’s hand.

i think the most common entry is from a gemini– i dont think i’ve seen anyone go into it from a jade, and your hand is on the other side of your right leg in a jade.

Nice link! Thanks https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Alethea… AMAZING!
I was using Jade to describe that it incorporates an upward facing split. It looks like the initial set up is the same – gemini, leg around to hold at the hip, hand(s) grab front ankle… then it changes when you grab the pole with your inside hand and lower. Body seems more downward to start than horizontal too. I need to stretch more because, like Jade, it’s going to be on my crap side split. Boo! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Ok, so I’ve got Tic Toc, Jade and Allegra now and I actually enter them all the same way – Gemini, Scorpio, Half Jade… then from there, hand placement dictates what move I’m going into. (Yep, I know it’s weird to do Half Jade from Scorpio, but otherwise my hip does not contact the pole at all in any hip hold move and I just end up holding between my thighs – personal quirk)
If my full Jade was strong enough to hold with both hands holding the front ankle, I think it would actually be possible to grab the pole and Tic Toc it down. It’d have to try it (when I get there), but it works in my head.
Video soon https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
In the meantime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRFVFOA-VRQ at 6.53 a mash of a Jade and an Allegra lowered to the ground like it’s a Tic Toc to confuse you further. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

if you get your jade completely snugged in your hip so that the pole is very tightly squeezed in your hip by your leg (so you want to pull the leg in towards your shoulder), you can tick tock it down hands free. alethea did it in my private with her on tuesday on accident =)

WOW! Alethea is so super AMAZING! That’s crazy! And totally jealous you got to have that lesson https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

lol, alethea surprised herslf with the hands free tick tock i think =) she was just doing it to show me and my friend how snugged in to your hip you wnat ot have the pole to tick tock. it was a fun lesson! we didn’t really go over that much (we ended up chatting most of the time) but i got a great tip for the extended aysha into iron X and also a cool combo from a wrist seat into a piked thigh hold. privates are AWESOME!

Forgot to link to the vid of me practicing with Tic Toc for the second time: http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/5082. Just saw Amber Ray’s MPD comp vid from last year (I think? They’ve changed the naming system): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fwI50t3yyc with a Tic Toc at 1.56 where she hooks the bottom leg around the pole to get an oversplit. I so have to try that. My oversplit is at chair height now, so hopefully I can https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I'm bringing this topic back up to avoid starting another thread.
I'm not undertanding what exactly is helping control this move. The only part touching the pole in this move is my hands when I start moving and when I tictoc down it happens really fast and I bang my toes on the floor. Am I missing something? Should another part of my body be touching the pole? It starts off touching my thighs but once I tilt i lose contact and it's just my hands.

I control my tic toc, by keeping my FOREARM on the pole along with the hand….This allows for greater control. Also try aiming the overhead leg across the pole by pulling with the free hand https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

through the tictoc, keep pulling that front leg across your body and really get it IN the hip when you're setting up. if i'm having a sticky day, and i have the pole nice and snug in my hip, i can do a tic toc with no hands =)

sorry, having a sloooow (hungover) day.
if you're having a lot of trouble controlling speed, i would recommend using veena's method– i mention the hands-free tictoc to make the point that you can do it without any hands on the pole if you have a good enough grip with your leg/hip.
