  • Where can I buy mirrors?

Posted by Masq on September 21, 2010 at 5:04 pm

Hey everyone! I’ve been looking all over online for cheap mirrors. Im either looking for one large mirror that’ll be large enough so that I can dance around my pole and see myself from head to toe (or atleast almost) or for several frameless rectangular mirrors that I can hang together.
Im hoping to spend as little money as possible. I did see these rectangular mirrors (50×12") on Lowe’s website for like 10 dollars but then if I got 3 or 4 of them the shipping would come out to be around $80, so it defeated the purpose :/
Well anyway I’m hoping someone can help me find a place to look (no walmarts near where I live :/)
    Thanks guys!

Check craigslist or searchtempest. There is a guy in my area that goes into old retail stores and sells the mirrors from stores dirt cheap. Also I believe that many here have gotten mirrors from Ikea.

    Hovet Mirror

You can also look for the mirrored sliding closet doors. Do you have a Habitat for Humanuity ReStore near you??

I got my mirrors at ikea, I got 3 frame less mirrors for $8 each and my boyfriend put them up for me and slid them together. so I have a pretty decent sized mirror for $24. The "ikea name" for the mirrors I got is MINDE. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I got my big mirror at IKEA, I wonder if you can order one online? Might be spendy for shipping though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I also have also used mirrored closet doors…..they can be huge and less expensive than a piece of mirror that size. If you have mirrored closet doors in your home just pop them off the track https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

Thanks guys! though I couldn’t use any of your ideas (closest ikea is in the next state, and no closet mirrors… or large enough closet doors for that matter) but it did get me thinking until I ended up in Home Depot’s website. like Ikea they have the frameless rectangular mirrors (and about a couple inches larger too) for about $9. so im thinking of getting 3 or 4 of them and just hanging them all together.

love the support from you guys. you’re the bomb ^^ https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

Do you have a glass shop nearby? I have purchased custom cut mirrors (we are talking all kinds of hand drawn curves) as three for $240 – I realize this is waaaaay more than you want to spend – but the equal cost of these already done at the Great Indoors was 500 a piece. When we bought mirrors for my dance studio in my basement that are floor to ceiling from them – they were the cheapest place around because they didn’t need to cut them at all – less than a hundred to do wall to wall. Its worth a try if you haven’t purchased anything yet. Just stay away from beveled edges – as pretty as they are, they add a lot to the cost!

Wal-mart has a special right now for a five foot mirrow by two feet for $39, framed. Take out 2-3 of them and you have a wall practically:)

    Hope that helps.

Like what chemgoddess suggested, I ALWAYS check craigslist for mirrors but no one remotely close by ever seems to give any away but I won’t give up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif . I’ll probably end up buying one when the time comes when I finally get a pole. I can’t right now, where I’m at but I will be able to once I move to North Carolina though so I have plenty of time to try finding one or two being given away for free. I also have that IKEA mirror bookmarked, its a nice one but it’s a little thinner than I want.

I really like this one from Lowes:

You have to call this place up to discuss prices for these, I haven’t though but I have a feeling they might be pricey https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I go to craigslist and buy used mirrored closet doors. 2 doors usually cover at least 5 width and 6+ feet high. I just lean them against the wall and they work great. I have gotten some free and other paid as little as 40 bucks or less for them. Its by far the best bang for you buck!

So for future references. I bought these 12"x12" polished edge mirrors. They were 6 for $10 so for 10 buck you get like 6 square feet of mirror. I bought 4 packages and now for about $40 i have 6 by 4 feet of my wall covered in mirrors. its perfect and it was cheap.

I got 4 mirrors from Home Depot, and my husband has sealed them onto the walls. They ran about $30 a piece, and measure about 7′ tall, and 6.5′ wide. Delivery was the kicker!

LOL, I made the mistake of reading this thread and then proceeding to check craigslist in my area and found a mirror 8’5"x6′ for only $50! They’re selling 3 of them from a former yoga studio- all 3 are $40 each if you buy all of them or 1 for $50. I only have room for 1. Now in the midst of last minute wedding tasks, I need to arrange for picking up my pole room mirror…LOl. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I absolutely LOVE my IKEA mirror. It’s called GODMORGON and it’s 4" x 3" (sounds small, but it’s massive). It was $39 and i bought two … but only hung one because it’s all I need!

Just be careful if you do buy one. They are extremely thin mirrors and the bending of the mirror from side to side if carried by the edges can crack it. They’re also wrapped badly in cardboard that slides off so be SUPER careful setting them down because you may shatter an exposed edge. We broke one carrying it to our car! But all the fuss was worth it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

If you can’t get to IKEA, I second a glass shop.
