So I’ve Wanted to do this move for a REALLY long time, But I can never figure out how to do it and make it look nice. I don’t know the name of the move, But I’ve usually seen it done when someone is in the caterpillar, and they just hold their position up high, and wiggle their hips really sexy-like. It’s not a strength issua for me, I just really get a brain fart when I’m upside down trying to figure out how to do this….Does anyone have any tips, or know any tutorials?? It’s always been one of my favorite moves!!

It is basically a hip circle while in a elbow kneel (not sure what that pose is called….similar to being on "all fours" but you are on your elbows instead of hands). Practice circling your hips and only your hips…basically right, floor, left, ceiling.

I love that one, too! Ottersocks does a phenomenal one in her Polestock vid. I think it’s towards the end. I’ve been trying to practice it, but I think it’s one of those moves you’ve got to video because looking at it upside down in the mirror is really confusing. I’d love to see a tutorial (hint, hint).

Ok, So I just posted a video of my attempts at this move. If anyone has any tips for arm/hand or foot/leg placement that might assist me with the move, It would be really appreciated!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

    hey there tabby!

your butt wiggle looks great! i think this is one of the moves that looks WAY better straight on then from the side. i do it at the end of a performance, here, and i think the view really helps: http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/5286

    Awww shucks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_colors.gif Thanks yoga.
So, here’s how I do it. I get into a good handstand position with my hands directly under my shoulders to bear my weight strongly. I slide my legs down into caterpillar legs position, deep bend in my knees, thighs are parallel to the ground. And then I hip roll–start by sticking my tail out, roll to the side, tuck tail under, roll to the other side. It’s fun. I never look at it in the mirror, I just need to feel it and concentrate.
But yeah, Alethea is the all time queen of it. I pale in comparison. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

What helped me with this move was not thinking about my hips or butt at all, but actually just trying to do big circles with my torso (you know, like the cat arch to flex in the box position on the floor)- this will naturally wiggle your butt in the movement. Super sexy move!
