Hi guys, I have been doing the online lessons for a couple of months and started a class about 5 weeks ago so i am practising every day.
Every morning that i wake up i find that my fingers feel kind of bruised, and a little uncomfortable on the pole. it has been the same for a few weeks with no improvement. Do you know why this is or how i can make it better?
I have also pulled a muscle or something in my right forearm that doesn’t seem to get better- I have switched arms not so that i don’t use the right one so it can heal but its not made any difference.
I didn’t use it for two weeks then thought i would try again but it still hurts when in use?

My instructor is working at a very fast pace too! i did an invert on my second lesson and was petrified! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
    Is this normal?

    Can anyone help?

lily, inverting on your second lesson is not normal…. unless you’re in a mixed levels class, and maybe your instructor felt that you were ready to do it since you have been doing lessons at home for quite some time and they saw that you were strong and coordinated enough. still, that sounds awfully fishy.

the forearm pain is most common from overdoing spins like the carousel with improper joint alignment (http://www.poledancinglessonsbristol.co.uk/USERIMAGES/360PoleDancing-CarouselSpin.jpg).

you shouldn’t be poling every day! give you body a day of rest in between or you will not strengthen your muscles properly. rest and letting your muscle fibers re-knit is just as important as working them out in the first place.

Sure sounds like your over doing it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif Totally common for us eager to grow dancers! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif If your taking the lessons here and starting at the beginner section of the lessons I explain how your body needs rest in between poling sessions. In case you missed it follow the guidelines I give in this lesson http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2145

Here is the video for how to properly use the Studioveena lessons http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2134

Give yourself some time to rest. Also since you are taking the lesson here, be sure your using the stretching lessons at the end of your pole sessions https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif Just switching will not be enough to let your forearm rest. Take a break from the pole. Stretch (when warm) and massage the forearm. Rest is just as important as practice.
