  • Help.. cant do the Inverted Crucifix

Posted by unicorn on February 9, 2011 at 11:00 am

I am really really struggling with this move. I have been poling for a few months. I can get in to a basic Invert and get in the right position to do the crucifix. But boy o boy. I cant let go , not even with one hand, the pain on the inside of my legs is killer. searing pulling burning ripping pain trying to hold myself up. Is this normal? Will I get past this pain. Any Ideas?

Would love to do this before I attempt anything else..

    Thanks

Have you tried working on it from the ground first instead of directly from and invert? That is how I teach it in the lessons. Your a bit more free to maneuver around and get the feel for the Points of Contact.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I agree with Veena as I also teach it from reverse handstand before any tries it from invert….Much safer approach…

That being said…………Have you considered Veena's lessons? They are WELL worth the very small fees she charges!

Most of us on here have her lessons whether we teach or not………They are wonderful.

Thanks for replies. I do have V.s Lessons..

Watched it today, its just the holding myself up there that im struggling with. so many bruises after today. Will have to have more time off for these bruises and pain to fade before attempting again..

I know you have to squeeze with your legs to hold yourself up. Its just so painful. Is it meant to hurt that much?

Can you do a pole sit or upright crucifix?  For only poling a few months I would not even think of working on something like this.

Thats great you have the lessons….. Sounds like you need some time off though.  When your ready be sure that your not just trying to squeeze the pole in between the thighs only don' forget to use the whole leg. I would suggest during your time off take a listen and look at the lesson again it can be very helpful to watch even if you can't do. The pain will get better and chem is right be sure you can hold the upright variation first. Don't rush pole isn't always about tricks take time to let your body acclamate and enjoy that dance as well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
