Ok I need some help deciding on a pole-dancing name! I plan on becoming a professional pole-instructor and performer one day (hopefully!) so Im gunna need a professional name, and I need one asap coz I have to sterilise my facebook of all pole photos and transfer them to my alias identity, before one of the kids I have just started teaching comes across them on the net! Yikes! 😛

Im an ex-stripper, so Im used to being called Scarlett, which I chose when I was inspired by Scarlett Johanson coz she just exudes sex appeal. But I need a surname! Something to complete my alter-ego persona… Any Ideas???? Im curious to know how you all settled on your SV names… I mean some are obvious (states/countries where you live etc), but I really need some more ideas…

I dont mind Scarlett Honey (mainly cause I love the taste of honey and Im always calling people "honey") but someone once said to me "ew, makes me think of blood…" sooo maybe I should aim for something a little more exotic and eye-catching… 😛

So far my top contenders are:

Scarlett Monroe – (coz I LOVE Marilyn, but is it too obvious or up-myself? She was a stunner after all….)

Scarlett Blue –  my sister's idea… I kinda just ike how its two colours… reminds me of Ruby Blue…

Scarlett Jane – coz Im in love with the song "Sweet Jane"

Scarlett Saoirse (pronounced Seer-sha) – coz my ancestry is Irish/Scottish and Saoirse is a Celtic name that means "freedom"

OR do you reckon I should get a totally new alias, something other than Scarlett??? Aggh I cant decide!

HELP!!! opinions and advice wanted desperately!! Thanks!!!! 🙂

    Hey!

I actually started a thread about names in the last couple days, too 😉

I have a horrible problem with coming up with names. It really gets in the way, considering I'm a writer…but it also seems WAY easier to come up with names for places and people I'm writing about, rather than myself. It's far more daunting to try to encompass the complex creature that is "self" than a character I've made up on my own.

That said, I like your first option of Monroe, because I think it sounds nice. It's a bit obvious, but do you really need it to be totally secret?

Scarlett Blue makes me first think of purple, and then suspect that perhaps that person is very…indecisive? I don't know. It makes me think of the duality aspect, and I don't know if you're looking for that.

Jane…sounds, forgive me, but kind of plain.

Saoirse sounds really good, but I will warn you: The pronunciation will catch people up really bad. Some of us totally don't understand Irish/Scottish language and pronunciation, so it can be complicated when, say, you're being introduced to a new audience by a new person and they do "Um, Sa-o-irsee?"

Please keep in mind that these are all my own reactions, and in no way reflect the general public 😉 Sometimes I'm a bit abnormal to how I react to things!

I love pole names, so let us know what you finally decide, and why! 🙂

    I forgot to mention!

If you're going to be taking your name "Public" and making it your stage name, it was recommended to me when I was getting into Burlesque that you search your chosen name on Google and such, and see if anyone else has it. You don't want to be mistaken for someone else, and many people use their names as their advertisement and thus their career, and they will get VERY pissy if you jack "their" name!

OMG EXCELLENT advice THANKYOU Runemist! Ok, so will def google potential name first. Would rather not be facing a law suit if I ever decide to use my name for a business/logo/whatever.  ðŸ˜›

Ok so you vote for Monroe, and maybe Saoirse, except its prob gunna tongue tie everyone… hmmpf. Ok… excellent, we r narrowing it down!!! I need more second opinions though! PLEASE, have your say! You can determine my future pole-dancing identity!! lol 😀

Oh and it might be pertinant to mention some of my key characteristics, so that you can interpret whether the name suits me as a dancer or not at all…. I guess I dance kinda fluid and flowy… and sometimes sultry, love rock n roll music… umm but my personality is kinda bubbly and sweet, not raunch or grunge. Soooo maybe just check out my videos and then get back to me!! hehe 😉 Thanks!!!!

I have a performing name for a very simple reason.  My first name people look at it and get really confused.  My name is LuAyne (pronounced Lu-anne), the Y throws everyone off.  I always say my mom just had to make me the special one!  When I competed in my first competition my bff made t shirts that said Team Lulu.  Lulu eventually stuck and became my performing name.  I love it since it sounds  very sweet and innocent and then I get on stage and BAM!!  im nothing what they think!

Just wanted to say…Minicooper, I know how you feel. My proper name is Jayde, and the Y throws everyone off. It's pronounced as if the Y isn't there, but all of my professors and school teachers (Okay, not ALL of them) are like "Jay-EE-Dee??"

I still stick with my choices; watching some of your videos, you're really graceful and strong! I love that 🙂
