    Hey everyone!

I'm so excited about pole dancing!! I just found out about this wonderful sport a few short weeks ago, became obsessed with it, and have been trying to learn all that is possible on youtube.com and other sites…oh and OMG this site is amazing! Veena and all the pole dancers here are SO inspirational. After a few weeks of "research" about pole dancing I decided to break out the wallet and get an Xpole!!! It's supposed to be here this Thursday, can't wait!!! I'm planning on maybe taking a class or two here in DC, however, due to funds I may have to rely on SV videos. I look forward to getting to know all the lovely pole dancers here. And, if anyone has any suggestions about what to do before jumping into it, ie. warm ups, beginner moves/spins, I would appreciate it!!! Good day everyone, and happy pole dancing!! 🙂

    hiya,

im so addicted as well.  take a look at veenas stretching and strength training for warms/cool down.  def start slow with the martini and fireman.  veena;s lessons are great and break everything down so well.

Hi Caity!  Sending you a warm welcome!  I'm from Baltimore and there are a ton of us mid-Atlantic ladies on this site.  You're in good hands with Veena's lessons.  She has her lessons organized into levels and she will keep you safe if you follow her advice!

    See you around the site!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Welcome!  Are you on Groupon or Living Social?  I have purchased many classes through there for a studio in DC and in Bethesda.  It helps with the affordability factor.

Thanks everyone for your kind responses! I really appreciate any help you guys can give.

Prncsopowr- I'm not currently on Groupon or Living Social, but I'll definitely have to look into those, thanks!

Sam I am- Posting pole pics is something I'm SO looking forward to doing as well, but I'm afraid it'll be a long while til I feel comfortable with my body to do that.

kat pole princess- thanks for the advice. i kno I've only had my pole for a few days now, but I never knew how difficult it was going to be! after only twenty minutes I find that my legs are SO bruised that I can't continue!! and my hands are too slippery, however I don't want to get in the habit of using those gripping products, as I feel they might hinder my progress. even the martini and fireman are too difficult for me, i can't do anything yet and it's been three days! am I expecting too much?? pleeaase help!! any advice is appreciated

One of the studios I go to (in DC) doesn't even introduce the fireman until you have been going to classes for a few weeks.  They start with catch spins and other spins that you always have one foot on the ground for.  This is to build up strength in your upper body.  You have only been doing this for three days!  It takes time!
