Hi,  I'm in the process of getting PT certified through ISSA.  It does give the anatomy breakdown, and which exercises work which muscles, but it's not giving me enough how and why.  (and the stretching section is so tiny)  I'm looking for an additional book, website, class, or something, that goes into further detail on how the muslces interact with each other and why they work the way they do.

I've heard good things about the Anatomy of Movement book (I think on here but no luck when I searched the forums).   But does this actually go into a pretty good level of detail?  Or would I just be better off taking a massage or anatomy class locally?

I realize this question is kind of vague… but the PT thing has my curiousity piqued and I want to know more~!  Any suggestions would be great =)

    Hey~~Here are some good books…

I am BCRPA Certifed(British Columbia Canada Governing Body) however, we used the ACE Personal Training manual to complete the last portion of our course.

The ACE manual is an excellent resource as well.

What more specifically are you looking for help with? Movement Biomechanics? Or a better understanding of anatomy?

Your certification should include an extensive amount of anatomy…I apologize, I have no experience with the ISSA certification process…but it should covering anatomy in detail.

If you could describe in better detail what you are requiring assistance with…there are several of us on Veena that are PT's, including Veena herself~~

    Let us know….

Here is a link to an excellent homestudy Theory course.

CFES is the fitness theory manual I used in college….I have heard good things about the home study as well.

At the end of the day, if you are just looking for a more in depth look at anatomy as it related to biomechanics….and you don't need it to be recognized by ISSA as part of your certification process—.this would be an excellent choice.

This is what I was able to find on the ACE website.

You should be able to purchase the ACE Personal Training Manual.

It is an excellent resource too…

Let me know if any of this helps….

Like I said, not very specific =P

The first links you sent (to the books) look like what I wanted, actually. (And google preview lets me read them online!) It's not for credit or anything, it's just because I'm curious.  The ISSA section on anatomy is good, but I'm wanting more in depth info on how the muscles interact while stretching/exercising.

    Thanks!
