I have been trying to invert into a gemini for about a year with no success. I can hold a gemini by getting into if from a regular invert, but I don't think it is very graceful. I am also having trouble with a cross knee and cross ankle release. I had it, but then I didn't  have time to pole. Now, that I have been working out for a about a month I just can't do it. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, I just can't hold the positions. I work out regularly and I have noticed quite a bit of imporvement there. I have also gained some weight, I am about 50 pounds above where I want to be. Is this normal for a big girl to have so trouble with this? I'm beginning to get really frustrated.

How are you getting into your invert?  If you are kicking in any way shape or form you will have difficulty getting yourself into proper position.  Are you considering gemini an inside or outside leg hang?

As always, a video really helps.

Selene what problem are you having with your CKR and CAR? Are you slipping? Or have you just lost your nerve to lay back? There is no reason why you should really have problems with these moves that would be weight related. I do know that it does require a lot of nerve to let go and lay back on both of those and you can get nervous and sweat which doesn't help the ability to grip, The best way may be to have someone 'spot' you on these two – someone who can comfortably take your weight, obviously making sure you have a good solid grip before you let go.

For my Gemini, I don't kick in the in the invert. I am a member of a good studio and they have gotten me out of that habit. I don't have a camera to take a video at this point. Perhaps this is something I can do this weekend. I just can't seem to get my legs over my hands to be able to grip that way. I invert and try to wiggle my way into position, but can't seem to do it.

For the CKR and CAR, my legs just don't seem to lock. I have been doing a lot of strength training on them and what I have been doing hasn't been helping. If I use my hand for the CKR to grab my foot I'm fine. I just can't get them to lock like I used to.

Selene, does this mean that you want to go into gemini from a chopper or a tuck invert, instead of basic invert? You might have difficulties getting your leg over your hands because your hips are too far from the pole. Try to focus on lifting those hips til they're really close to the pole before you hook your leg. And be sure to have a straight back!

    Good luck!!!
