I've been trying since August to get the dreaded knee hold.  I went through you tube videos before I became a member here, and then I tried using the lessons and forums to help me figure out why I couldn't get the move all the way.  I've been working on getting it on both sides, and can get my hips forward and my feet locked together correctly, and I feel as though I can let go, but it hurts the bottom leg so bad that I'm afraid to fully let go.  Yesterday, I was showing an old friend tricks I was working on, and in the middle of talking to her, I just let go!  I could hold it for quite a few seconds and I was so excited I think I freaked her out a bit lol.  Just wanted to share success on this, since I'm so happy I got it and I know other people who've been unable to succeed with this move.

Congrats! Now we want pics https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

We've just started working on it in class and I am still at the "are my feet supposed to meet?" stage, along with horrid bruising.

Well done! Knee hold is such a tricky one, and it's still eluding me. Any insights or tips on how you finally got it? Or did you just do it by not concentrating (talking to your friend)? I love how sometimes you just accidentally get a move. That's how I first got a split grip aysha: I got confused and thought I was in twisted grip! And I second pictures 🙂

@Cinara: I think it was the thing about concentrating less.  I focus so much on that move when I've tried it in the past that I think I've been psyching myself out with the pain in the lower leg.  I think I just happened to hold it on the very perfect spot on my lower leg and after not thinking to hard, it just happened.  I only hope I can do it again today haha and get it on the other side as well!

I'm doing much better on twisted grip as well (about halfway to getting it, but surely progressing) because I just move into it without concentrating too much.  I feel like once you get to a certain point after practicing a move, the muscle memory works well and you can relax and go into the move easier.  But I definitely didn't think I'd get knee hold ever!

I will be posting pics later today or tomorrow morning 🙂
