A possible beginning to a recognized names list
For those who haven't heard – the IPSF (International pole sports federation) the PFA (Pole Fitness Association) and the IPDFA (International Pole Dance Fitness Association) have gotten together and agreed upon a list of names for pole moves.
The three groups have agreed to get together yearly to update the list.
Information about accessing the list will be available soon. Of course no one is obligated to use these names but this is a great step toward standardization of names for those who are interested.

it would make my life alot easier. My studio uses a different set of terms that we use on here and its hard to switch back and forth between the two.

Finally! This will make things SO much easier, and bring us closer to a proper regulation for moves, what makes a move, and what makes a variation, and all that stuff!

Wow!! Took them long enough!! I can (soon) finally tell people a move and they know exactly what I'm talking about?? Instead of saying things like "You know…the move where you lift your lift up and arms out in the air???"

I will say that I don't agree with all of the names but for the sake of making it all uniform it's worth it and no one is ever going to agree on EVERY name. They've done a remarkable job.
I THINK it will be ready and online in a few weeks. The PFA did a lot of work to update their previous list and then the IPSF and the IPDFA got involved and did some editing.

the X-Pert certification i did uses the names from PFA….cant wait to see the full list!

hi Empyrean! just wondering if this list ever came about??
i have been looking at the PFA's and PDC's lists/photos of moves, plus Wikipole, and feel overwhelmed by all of these different names. and then on top of that, some studios make up their own names that are different than all of them!

Unfortunately none of the groups has finalized a printable or online copy – last I heard they had all agreed but were still each finishing their own product. I think the PFA will be the first list you'll probaby see and have access to.

Hopefully they'll use more descriptive names and not so many colloquial ones like lunchbox or spatchcock that don't translate well in different areas. Or personal names like The Susan or whatever.

thanks empyrean for the update! i'm happy they have agreed and will be updating each of their lists. will be definitely looking out for this!! @oospseydaisey, yes that would make it so much more professional (although i do like the dangerous brian, lol) 😀
