hi everyone! i'm from hattiesburg ms and we just had our first pole studio open up. I've taken a couple weeks worth of lessons and just ordered my first x pole from my instructor. Can't wait for it to arrive! i'm taking online lessons too because i can learn things at my own pace and work on things that i'm interested in learning. i love pole dancing, it makes me so happy and i want to continue on with this journey i've begun. I look forward to all your support and can't wait to make new friends!!   https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I didn't pay close enough attention before on what part of mississippi you were from–I had a friend that actually lived in Hattiesburg for a while; I actually stayed with her while she was there for a bit. It was a little bit of culture shock for a Yankee like me, but I had fun; glad to know they've finally got a pole studio there now.

Ginger Kitty, did you take classes at Eccentric Studios in Bartlett?

Yea its really unorganized as of right now. They dont have enough business to have beginner, intermediate, or advanced classes yet so we are all just dropped in one class together. Its really frustrating because I dont kno how to do anything and another girl in my class is super advanced so me and the other beginners are trying to catch up. the instructor is trying to teach us stuff even the advanced student doesn’t kno so she will have something new to learn.

Its really hard for me to keep up and its so frustrating. I leave every class feeling so sore and I didn’t even accomplish anything. After this month is up i’m probably not going to sign up again!

That's too bad it's so chaotic; hopefully they'll get everything sorted out as time goes on. Are they teaching the whole class things the really advanced girl doesn't even know, or just moving around and working individually with each of you? If you end up not signing up again, get Veena's lessons–they are the best value for your money of anything out there in relation to pole lessons, and she breaks everything down so well and teaches you how to get into moves safely. She also has conditioning exercises for beginners, and a ton of lesson content, plus she's always adding new stuff. I seriously pimp her lessons to anyone who will listen–they have helped me with so many moves I've been struggling with. If Veena's lessons were a man, I would marry them–that's how disturbingly passionate I am about them. lmao

no she doesnt work individually. My second class we learned the carousel spin. All I could do was jump up and touch my toes together then land back on the floor. All of them could do it cept me cause I was the only beginner in the class and I felt really bad. I still cant get the position and certainly can’t do it while spinning!

I'm glad you have the lessons; I bet you'll find them really helpful. To be honest, the class doesn't sound very safe. You could end up pushing yourself on a new move you're not ready for and wind up hurting yourself. Also, it's not fair for you to feel like crap because you're the only beginner; you need to be able to go at your own place.

spinnycake, too bad all levels are together.  It is hard watching more int/adv polers.  However, even when I was in a class with all same level, each of us still accomplished at different levels, each of us had different strengths.

My experience when beginning things like carousel, cradle, etc., everything was "baby steps."  I didn't have strength to go into spins at once.  Like you said, being able to go up and touch toes together and back down.  That's how I started as strength developed each time.  The cradle was lift up feet one at a time and back down, till being able to hold for few more seconds, then tuck up and hold, etc. It took time, but it comes.

As I begin to learn something new, everything starts baby steps till strength develops to hold longer, release legs when it's time, etc.  Patience is important to not get hurt, I also learned that the hard way! 🙂  I think you will love veena's lessons and begin to accomplish, she breaks things down wonderfully.  Congrats on your new pole!

Thank yall for the support! I definitely still have a good attitude about poling tho and I will probably rejoin the studio after a few months and maybe things will go better for me
