So I feel like I should be able to do this move but I can't.  What you do is, if you're in an inverted crucifix, you place your hands on the floor and release your leg grip, open your legs in a V, tuck your hips inward and lower your legs down so that your feet touch the floor and then you can either lower into a split or stand up and your back will be to the pole.

For reference, Felix does it at the end of her routine here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlJOzhfkh_g

My problem is that when I try to tilt my hips and lower my legs it hurts in sensitive places…anybody else ever have this problem? ;b

That's the bum slide, I think! Yeah, all you have to do is shift just a little to either side so that the pole is really sliding down one of your upper inner thighs. It looks like it's in the middle, but really it isn't. So after you put your hands down, just move your hips a little bit to the left or right, and you should be okay. I mean, it'll still hurt, but not more than any other move.

Ooh ooh I just learnt this on the weekend! If you have really short shorts, sometimes you can't go off to the side. I was told that you just have to push through the pain because it doesn't last long. As in, it's only the very first part of the slide that hurts, and then the rest is just against your butt, which doesn't hurt. (This is what I was taught at Bobbi's, so I'm not just making it up). But, if you can get away with going to the side without getting stuck on your skin, totally do that.

My problem with this move is that my bad ankles collapse when my feet touch the floor, and I end with the sides of my shoes on the floor, and my feet rolled all the way inward. The good thing about my bad ankles is that the ligaments are so loose othat this is completely painless and harmless for me, even if it would sprain anyone else's.

There have been a few threads here (I know I started one that I cannot find) that might offer up more help.  Here is one that is kind of older.  You should not roll across your lady parts.

Like I said, I'm not just making stuff up. This is what I was taught just a few days ago. Not everyone is going to agree on technique of course.

You have the 38 poles there too, don't you?  This may be one of the reasons….there just is more surface area (read "ouchie effect") on a 50mm pole.
