    Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has bought the Pole Move Box?  If so,how does it  compare to the PFA flashcards?  I like the PFA version but would like to know more about the Box before I make that investment!!!

    THanks,

    Kat

I haven't bought either but I have downloaded the PFA visual dictionary which someone on here said has all the same moves as the flashcards.  I find the PFA dictionary to be extremely limited.  From what I gather from the Pole Move Box website, it looks like they show a lot more moves than PFA – but they're also super expensive 🙁

Hey Kat,  I also thought about the pole move box but to be honest there are so many great free resources out there with simple pictures and move names that I cannot justify spending that much money on a box of flash cards.

Check out http://www.verticaldance.com , the pfa website, www,poledancecommunity.co.uk and http://www.wikipole.org.  This sites have a number of moves, pictures, videos, etc.  And if you've got the time you can compile all the resources together in a single binder or atleast file folder on your computer.  I know I've taken from all of those resources and then added a ton of my own things to it.

    Just some info:

The PFA is about to release an updated list of flashcards and has added many more moves.

Additionally, the PFA, the IPDFA and IPSF have worked together to agree on the same list to try to create more universal language.

Another good source is the Pole Dance Community. They have a great resource that also cross references moves like wiki pole and they are working on expanding that now too.

I believe pole move box had a stall at a competition I went to see and they dont have any additional tips or info about each move on the card – I think it is literally just the name and a picture. I thought it was some kind of joke price they were so expensive – seriously…. £180 for something I could effectively make myself…..

In fact with good pole resources online (mainly YT, http://www.poledancecommunity.co.uk) I might just do that! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Vertical dance is good but there aren't many moves on it and wikipole has a lot of broken links and much of the site doesn't seem to work…. which is a shame as there is great potential there! On wikipole.org they do have a bit that gives you info about which moves you can transition in to/out of which is helpful

Let us know if you find any other good move directories https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have seen the commercial for the pole move box and I think it's a great resource the price is simply too high.  I would pay even $100 to have a COMPLETE listing of moves but three times that?!?!

I know wikipole has some issues but we can all submit pictures, videos and moves to it.  It works like a community,  It's a little confusing on how to do it at first but I encourage everyone to make a profile on wikipole and add your knowledge and variations to it.

Studio Owners/Instructors, it's a good idea to keep a running file on your own computer of moves too.  It's a pain to keep up with I know and mine is a little outdated right now but when you're bored kinda go through it and see if you can anything anywhere.

The biggest issue I've run into because I learn so many beginner things is keeping the beginner and intermediate lists organized – I have a Master list, beginner, intermediate and advanced list and it just keeps getting bigger – yeesh!  lol!

And because pole is evolving so fast, kind of another reason NOT to shell out $300 for flash cards unless you get lifetime updates, lol!

I just want to say I do however appreciate ALL the work that went into the Pole Move Box and the time it took to photograph all of those moves and rank each move.

Hey guys! I offer a book called the Spin City Pole Bible. It has over 500 photographs of pole moves and you can buy it on Amazon as an E-Book http://www.amazon.com/Spin-City-Pole-Bible-ebook/dp/B00FDS82Z4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380801231&sr=8-1&keywords=spin+city+pole+bible or you can buy the printed copy from my website, http://www.spincitypolefitness.com and we post internationally on request. We are much more reasonably priced but as comprehensive! Hope this is useful!
