I Just Had The Weirdest Pole Oops
So tonight I was practicing on spinny some more (I actually had a good practice video I was going to put up, but my stupid webcam FROZE when I hit the button to stop recording, so now I have nothing,) and I was dismounting the pole from an upside down spin, just letting myself slide more and more down the pole, while twirling merrily around…then when I tried to get up, I realized my hair had wrapped itself completely around that teeny little gap between the bottom of the pole and the base!! I panicked for a second, trying to figure out how the hell I was going to get myself loose without tearing anything, so here I am crab walking backwards around the pole to slowly unwind all my hair. I wish I had the video of it–it was probably hilarious to watch, but that went poof when my webcam screwed up. It was probably a total freak thing–I still don't understand how my hair could have wrapped itself around that one teeny little section–it must has been flying around just right.

Well if it could happen to anyone, it would have to be you Horsecrazy, with your amazing long hair! I admit, seeing your photos has given me a bit of a twinge of regret for having chopped mine shorter… But then, mine just looks limp and thin when it's really long.
Glad neither of you ripped any out in your accidents! I lost a huge chunk of my hair to a doorhandle whilst running around as a kid, so I can tell you it's not a pleasant experience https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
I'll be watching out for this when I get round to trying spinny… Hehe.

Yeah, I was amazed I didn't tear anything–I felt sure a big chunk was coming out. That's why the crab walk wasn't really a normal crab walk, but more of a frantic scurrying around the pole with some bad words punctuating the panicky silence every so often. LMAO! The next time I did the same move, I actually held my hair in one hand so I could push it out and away so the same thing didn't happen again.
Miraine, I really like keeping my hair long, but now I'm thinking when I use spinny mode, maybe I should put it in a really tight bun! lol I use to have it at my shoulders a long time ago, but prefer it really long, although it definitely does get in the way sometimes.

Wow, this just makes me gladder still that I usually pole with my hair up!! I have really long hair too and I find it difficult coming out of inverted moves on spin just to see the floor and figure out where to stop so I usually just tie it back!! I never even thought about my hair getting tangled on the pole!! Yikes!!

Yeah, poling with long hair can be tricky, expecially on spinny, but its so much fun!. I remeber wondering if that sort of thing could happen, but I figure I was just being paranoid… autch… guess I was lucky… need to be more careful. Glad you're okay and thanks for the heads up!

It's probably not a common problem–there is such a small gap that I didn't even think about it, but it definitely can happen, obviously. Just something for ladies (or guys) with long hair to remember–if that hair and the pole are both twirling just right…voila!

Actually…I read that it happened to quite a few people with long hair…One even had her bf grab a pair of scissors to cut off Thr part that was stuck!
I have really long hair…and I’ve only learned on spinny. I guess I’ll have to remember to put it up in a bun before I do any serious inversion!

Couldn't you just spin the other way until its free? lol Just think of it like eyebrow threading for your hair.
I always have my hair in a bun claw when I pole. Its doesn't dig into the back of your head like straight or banana claws when you forget its in and put your head on the floor or pole.

Hmm, I just ordered my brass X-pole (YAAaaaayyyy!!!!!) and was planning to freestyle with my waist-length hair flowing loose.
Think I’ll stick to my ponytail now!

Bace16, I was already on the floor before I realized what had happened–it wasn't yanking oddly at my hair while I was spinning or anything, so I didn't even notice until I tried to get up that I was stuck. The possibility of my hair getting stuck never even occured to me before, so it's just something for long-haired ladies to keep in mind.
Hotpinksugar, let us know how your new brass x pole is! Are they available in the US yet, or are you from a different country? I thought I read that they were coming out in the US in June.
