(good) update on hubby
Hello All,
Sorry I haven't been around but I've got some really good news about hubby. His liver levels have FINALLY started to go down!!! YEAH!!!! They still don't know what was making him so sick and they have no idea why he started getting better. Even the Mayo Clinic can't figure it out. You name a test and they probably ran it!
They let him come home from the hospital today. He has to go in every day and have his blood drawn so they can still monitor him but we'll take that! They have decided that his liver was damaged, but they feel pretty good that it will repair itself and the damage won't be permanent – it will take a long time but they do have high hopes. His birthday is tomorrow so we couldn't have asked for a better present!!!
Again, I want to thank all of you for your well wishes and good thoughts. I can't tell you how much it meant to me. I would be up at 3 o'clock in the morning just reading all the good things you had to say. It really helped me get through all this. I can never thank you enough.
I am now hoping to catch up on everything and every body.
Thanks again to all my friends. You'll never know how much your kind words helped me.

SO happy to hear that!! There was an article in the post the other day about hemochromostasis… something about a gene causing iron overload. This guy had it and they didn't diagnose him. They kept insisting he must be an alcoholic but he wasn't. Finally they checked ferritin levels and found it was the gene abnormality. Doctors are very much in teh PRACTICE of medicine, at best. I'm so happy for you

The history of the disiease is interesting as well. I guess he has to go a get some blood drained on a regular basis for the rest of his life.
