Go look at the last comment on my booty challenge video. Good lord. O know I am rusty, but I would not have been a paid professional bellies vet if I “sucked.” I also would not have been told by my pole instructor that I should teach lessons and she would not have wanted me performing if I sucked. Sorry for ranting. I just cannot believe a stranger could say that to me. Yeah, I did not spin because I sprained my wrist!! Last thing I needed. I am already upset enough with other things in my life. The last thing I need is to be questioning my talent.

Paid bellydancer; not bellies vet. Auto correct strikes again.

Nothing in their profile + mean comments screams internet troll to me! Don't let a  troll take away from all the great comments you got because that's how they get their jollies! And noone wants to give a troll jollies…Cheer up and rejoice in your awesomeness;)

If you ever have a problem like this email us and we will take care of it. That kind of behavior is not tolerated here!

Hmm, my understanding is that we all try to keep negative comments like that to a minimum, especially when critisism is not asked for. When it is, anyone who gives it is always as polite and constructive as they can be, so no one becomes discouraged. We're all on this journey, and we can all respect each other for taking on the challenge.

From what I can see, this person is not familiar with the forums or how this community works. The comment was not nice, and clearly they don't understand what a "challenge" is around here, and how it works.

Instead of letting them troll, why not confront them? Ask how or why you sucked, and what you might do better! Ask them what they wanted to see, and why they expected you to deliver, considering there are so many videos here. Why not say "I haven't seen you around here, are you new?" Because they might well be so, and they might be confused as to the nature of this website and the purpose of us being here.

Or, they might just be some random person, with no real interest in pole dancing, just here to spew opinions at random. Never know till you ask!

And, if it helps…I thought you looked great in that video. Your movements were awesome, well isolated, and take great skill- I took a belly dancing class, I know how hard it is! And I know how much practice it takes to get all that going!

So, no matter what anyone else says…be proud, you've done some amazing things, and you dance with grace and skill! 🙂

I'm glad it's just a troll. I still have scars from all the mind games I received in Jr. High and High School, and the damage is still there. I still have nightmares and I'm almost 26. Little things like that just push me over that edge that I have been teetering on because of all the stress I've endured over the last year. I relly do appreciate all the nice comments I got. I am so rusty on my bellydancing and I'm trying really hard to get my technique back.

Has the comment been removed? I couldn’t see it.
Whatever they said try and brush it off if you can, I’ve had some rotten things about old videos on YouTube. Some people just have to be nasty for the sake of it.
I loved your video, it was awesome.

Thank you! I will probably do a part 2. I didn't get all the moves into the dance that I wanted, so I may try again.

Veena deleted the poo head! 😀

Ok, now I get your screen name!  (I should have figured that out!)  Since the comment is gone, I don't know what they were referring to, but I saw nothing wrong with that video.  No suckage at all…only blissful bootiness.  They probably have a flat butt and are jealous.  Anyway, you are clearly not a beginner, but can you imagine if comments like that make a pro question themself, what would it do to a beginner?  xoxo

Believe me I know exactly how you feel! I was taunted and teased in school my whole life so much so that I skipped class most of my senior year 🙁 I still have nightmares about it too, so im very sensitive to rude comments and people questioning what I do also. I just started trying to learn bellydancing and its hard!!!! I thought you were fantastic!! Xo

It takes a lot of courage for someone to post a video online for the world to see.  I think it's pretty pathetic that someone would leave nasty comments to anyone.  I think the video was great and I applaud ANYONE who shares their creative pole abilities with us.  We can all learn something from anyone, regardless of age or pole ability.

I got a nasty comment once too.  I checked the profile, they had no pics, no vids no nothing so I assumed TROLL and emailed Webby.  He deleted the sucker!  🙂  No trollers allowed here!

I thought your vid was great by the way, I can only dream of having that kind of flow.

Thanks again to Webby and Veena for keeping this a supportive community!

Runemist, I think your advice comes from the right place, but have you ever heard the phrase "Don't feed the trolls"? I work on the web team at a local newspaper and for the longest time that meant moderating our forums and the comments on our stories. Trolls are persistent. The more you "confront" them or get upset at them or otherwise engage with them, the nastier they get, and they pretty much can't be reasoned with. Delete their comment? They come back with 15 more. Delete their account/profile? They create a new one before you can blink. We even had nicknames for them.

Sadly, trolls will be trolls, and because this is the Wild West Web, we can't just pen them up in Troll Jail. They deserve pity for the sad lives they must lead that drive them to tear others down anonymously, but that's about as much credit as I'll give them. I even managed to track down and identify one of the worst offenders on the newspaper's site and found his Facebook profile, and my little cyber-peek into his real life showed me he was pretty much a loser on all fronts.

Granted, what you say could be true, they could be new and not oriented to the loving, supportive, awesome atmosphere of StudioVeena.com. Maybe I've been made cynical by my troll-slaying experiences but I would vouch that the Laws of the Internet and Probability say the commenter in question was a troll and nothing more (you kind of have to be a troll to even be OK with attacking or belittling someone online). And 99% of the time, the easiest and best way to handle a troll is to completely ignore their comments and report them to the site admin. It's tempting to go on the defensive and fight back, but that's what drives them, and it's SO not worth the effort.

Pankake – So, basically what you're saying is that you're an internet Ninja! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif

Yes, I've heard of/dealt with trolls quite a bit…some of the other communities I've dabbled in have quite a few trolls in them, unfortunately! This is usually my other response, is not to give them anything, let them fade out, but I wasn't entirely sure if this one was a troll or not https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
