    Heya all!

I have had a HUGE hiatus from pole, but have over the last couple of months regained most of my strength and decided to enter a local competition. I've got through to the final 8 and have to do a live performance in front of 800 or so people in September!

I am really worried about my grip, when I get hot I have really sweaty hands and i'm forever wiping my hands on my bum to dry them. I have dry hands and mighty grip, the dry hands works best but still only temporarily. Its going to be extremely hot (I went as a spectator last year), with lots of lights.

Does anyone have any tricks or solutions for this? I need a subtle way of wiping my hands a few times, or a better grip aid….. anything!! Anything I can put on the pole to make it grippier?

The comp isn't a pole comp – Gsylass and I are the only polers that we know of in Guernsey, its a general talent comp – i'm up against mostly musicians!- and up till now Guernsey has never seen poling so I need to make it as un-sensual as possible (we're a rather uptight place over here!), mainly tricks, which again makes grip sometimes difficult.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

    🙂

We had some "international" pole dance competition here last months and there was one girl from Hungary, she ask to clean the pole by her way. So first one I assume was an alcohol, probably spirit and the next one I don't know what it was but it made whole pole all white, then she didn't use anything in her hands. She stuck very well all her routine.

I don't know what it was but I know that if you like more or less dry hands you should maybe tray to apply it on the pole from and your hands. Try it and see how it will work.

And good luck in your competition. 😀

I had my first comp recently, so I know all about your worries! Aside from the usual grip aids, hairspray etc,  I dealt with it by identifying the tricks in my routine that needed the most grip and I made up a 'Plan B' sequence for the music in case I felt it wasnt safe to perform the trick combination.

I actually ended up using it too, because the poles felt disgusting and there was no way I was going to stick to them. It also helps to know your music inside out so you can freestyle a bit if you abort one of your tricks (which I also had to do)!

Thanks for all the suggestions, i've just ordered some tite-grip to give it a go, and really like the 'plan b' idea! Will have to do that! 🙂
