So I started this forum to tell my own story, and to hear about experiences everyone else has had with their pole idols/crushes/celebrity of choice!

I have a been a fan of Michelle Mynx and have seen her perform several times in St Louis now. Well I was introduced to her over the weekend at a small pole event, and omg, I was like a blithering idiot. So embaressed. All I could manage was a tiny "hi" before I turned bright red and couldn't speak any more. Geez louise, talk about a stupid pole crush, ha ha! She is so much prettier in person too. =)

Anyways, that's my little embaressing story, but I knew my pole girls would appreciate it!

I met Felix Cane briefly last fall at a competition where she judged and gave a guest performance – I hadn't even been poling for very long but she has been my idol since before I even started classes!  I totally know where you're coming from – she was taking pictures with a bunch of people and I really wanted to get one, but I didn't want to barge into the group. I ended up waiting a lot longer than I probably needed to for other people to finish talking and taking pictures because I was so nervous.  My boyfriend was with me and he finally convinced me to just go up to her and get the picture.  I really wanted to introduce myself better and tell her what a great performance she gave but everything felt so rushed and I was a little chicken.  It was the coolest thing though and definitely one of the highlights of my year! 🙂

Michelle is GORGEOUS….I could get lost in her Come F Me eyes for days!

I am always facinated with people's lives and how they have changed and also how they handle being away from home.  Things that I could not do are always interesting to me to try to understand how they get through.  I have met a few celebrities but have gotten pictures with few.  I would much rather sit around and have a drink with them then get my picture taken.

so far luckily I haven't become a blibbering idiot in front of any of them that I have met. I love Michelle to death and her and Katrina (and a bunch of other burlesque girls) have stayed at my house.

And you can boast that you were tied up by one of the "celebrities".

Um ok yes…I fell apart in front of Alethea Austin, Leigh ann Reiley, AND Karol Helms. It's like
"hi OMGOD I totoally can't believe I'm talking to you blah blah blah blab" and in my head I'm thinking "shuuuut uuuuuup" yeah. When I met Alethea, I actually couldn't say hi becasue the minute I got into the studio I had to pee so it was like "HI I am totally psyched but I'm gonna scream AFTER I use the potty" UGH FAIL> the good thing is that the three ladies were all really down to earth and super friendly. I know that won't help fix the butterflies but Just remember everyone works from the bottom to the top in this sport so they all have been you before. (even if they do have a super human ability to radiate complete confidence and they totally exude sexy from every pore) CIAO!

At the convention, I saw a lot of pole celebrities.  I felt kind of weird just going up to them and asking for an autograph or to get my pic with them.  I didn't know if it would bother them or not.

I got Felix's autograph bcause she was at her table, and I had no idea what to say except for thank you when she signed her picture.

I spotted Alethea just as she was getting to her table.  I literally made a beeline for her.  Of course I didn't know what to say, but I purchased some of her merchandise, the preorder DVDs, and she autographed some stuff.

I did get my picture with Karol.

I was literally hitting my husband's arm the whole weekend saying, "look, look"…lol

I try to be relaxed when I meet them b/c I dont want to mouth diarehea when I talk to them.   Everyone is very laid back and more than happy to sign something for your or take a photo.  I remember asking Felix to sign my shoe and she was all about it.

On the reverse side, when people meet me for the first time I get super excited!  I try to keep myself contained so I dont look like a crazy person.  I also make sure I thank them for watching my vids and finding me.  I do try to make sure I spend time with people and give them anything I can give them – pole advice, hugs, chat etc.  Its one of the things ive learned from selling Mary Kay for so long.

I have been so far pretty good about it.  I've met music celebrities in my former life and interviewed lots of actors and other celebrities as a DJ.  I have always tried to be calm cool and collected although my heart was beating so loud you could hear it through the mic.

The worst thing I ever did was when I met Alanis Morisette I told her I was "going to pee my pants" then ended up inadvertantly telling her she was a bad singer.  I was just so excited because I was a hippie, litlith fair teenager growing up and while I was in my mid 20's when I met her and her fame had fizzled out I was still just so mesmorized by her that I made an A%& of myself!  lol!  LUCKILY, I was just there to see the show and not on a work thing – that would've been sooo bad.

I got really giddy when I met Wendy Traskos for the first time a few years ago when she came to our studio – but kept it together but I was so super excited.  I really did want to pee my pants.  This was just after the first USPDF if you can imagine how long ago that was.  This was also my first pole class too so I was just so excited.

I think part of the reason I'm fairly calm about meeting them is because I was on dial up, didn't download youtube video's much until about 6 months ago. So while I knew some of these people I was getting to meet were a big deal in the pole world it didn't seem as much that way to me because I wasn't spending hours drooling over their performances. I was as excited to meet Charley as Karol when I went to detroit for the Karol Helms workshops last year. I knew Charley from another forum and couldn't wait to meet her. With Karol i was nervous because I'm not used to doing pole lessons and here I was taking all 4 workshops (the last one was wayyyyyyyy over my head literally) with Michelle and Katrina I met them in Empy's house, in a casual non pole setting that made it easy but really loved them both as people very quickly and got to have them stay here at my house a couple weeks later. The rest I met in Jamaica….Fawina, Leigh Ann….they were both fun to be around. Alethea I met at empy's house so again a quickly going from oh wow! to wow what a nice person.

Then when I went home I thought OH SHIT that'sCHARLEY oh crap, I hope I didn't say anything stupid to her lol..and I'm sure I did cuz I talked like all night lol! (oops) 😉

@ mini, I was totally excited to meet you in 2010 as well. I remember thinking I wish my confidence was on par with yours…I still kinda feel that way lol 🙂

One of the many benefits of working with Fawnia at her studio in Las Vegas is being able to meet the plethora of pole royalty that come here to vacation, practice and play.  It's taught me to be a gracious hostess, and not a blubbering idiot that I would otherwise tend to be.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif  The one I kick myself inthe butt for missing was Oona, when she was here. UGH!!
