    Charley just recently learned this from Natashe Wang.  That is about the only advice I can give.

    Ohhh I just had this one explained to me the other day. Whatever side your shoulder mount is on, that hand must be your bottom hand. That same bottom hand slides quickly down to grab the pole as your other arm is bent and grabs the pole. LOL. That probably doesn't make much sense. I haven't been able to do this one yet. Good luck! 🙂

    Yeay !!!  This is one of my favorite moves to do!!!
    Do you have any videos of your attempts?? That could be helpful also–
    MrsNaughtywed described the basics of the move very well…
    Okay, I'm thinking of a detailed way to type out an explination…..
    I'll have to do it in a word doc and re-post it here, lol.

    Fonji Training Tips:
    * Shoulder Mount Holds
    * S.M. Bouces (Bounce the hips up and down while scissoring the legs OR do the bent leg version)
    * SM Hops (this move is a great prep for the Fonji, but not necessary to achieve the move)
    * SM Drops (this move helps if you have a fear of moving down the pole via s.m.)
    * Flag Inverts (Lifts w/out jumping)
    * Flag Jumps (I have ppl do these b4 we do fonjis to help prep them for the impact)

    * Any Lower Abdominal Exercises
    * Chest exercises (strengthens for flag)
    * Any shoulder mount exercise.

    Hope this is helpful.  I'd love to see your progress 🙂

    Thanks for the tips ladies. Just to be clear – if I've got my pole behind my right shoulder, then my right hand would be on the bottom?

    When you flip, does your face turn towards the pole? I can shoulder mount 'bounce' fine, but I cant flip over cos I feel like I'm going to hit my face on the pole if I turn! Are there any baby steps to this?

    My fonji sucks big time but I can tell you this much…statically practice the hand transitions.  while standing on the ground practice the transtions from shoulder mount to flaf to build up the body memory of where you need to be and where you need to go.

    My problem with this move is when I get into my flag I am too slow on the flag press up – it's a swing not a press so I need to get used to swinging.  So practice getting a nice big shoulder mount jump – i mean LOTS of force and practice swinging your legs back in your flag invert quickly.  Then once you've given your body the hand position (practice this with speed, I know your on the floor but it helped me a lot) put it all together.
