I have arthritis that is currenlty fairly uncontrolled, but in about a month my medications should kick into overdrive and allow me to pole. I can do a few self-taught spins on good days, but I would like to build some strength before I start up again.

So here's my question: are there any strength training exercises that can help with poling that have minimal impact on the joints? I have access to a pool, which I know can help, but am wondering if there are any specific exercises that would benefit me.

Also the kind of arthritis I have does not damage the joints, so poling shouldn't damage them further. Thought I'd mention that to avoid confusion. 🙂

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have lupus, which is an autoimmune disease with arthritis and (amoung other things,) it effects my joints.  I do Veena's strength training lessons.  I am very happy with them.  I haven't noticed any problems with my joints.  In fact, since I started strength training, my arthritis has been SO much better.  I only do strength training 3 times a week.  Resting in between not only helps the muscles recover, but it gives my body time to rest too.  Good luck.

Oh hey! I have APS, which is a subset of lupus. Thanks for the suggestions! 🙂
