I keep meaning to get into pole dancing, I don't know why I put it off, I have a pole and everything. I was thinking of just buying the year membership, but I wanted to know if anyone else started without much experience?

Is it at all possible to start as a newbie and progress into some of the more awesome moves? Lol

I guess I just doubt myself and need encouraging.

I started with literally NO fitness ability AT ALL. Seriously. My only "fitness" during most of my life has been horseback riding, and I didn't do it for very long, considering (3 years).

I took a few classes, but I've found Veena's lessons to be the best. Seriously, the best. I like being around people to learn moves from, or to troubleshoot with…but that's why this forum exists! And why Friday Chat happens! I asked Veena once on Friday chat to help me with the stupid thigh hold (which I still cannot do!), and she helped me through video! It was really awesome.

And, there are strength and flexibility training in her lessons, too, which are really super helpful.

Having learned what I have about the human body, everything is possible with enough time, love, and determination. I love pole dancing, even if I'm not doing "amazing" things with it yet…I'm really, really enjoying it!

I hope it becomes an amazing experience for you!

Veena's online lessons are the best.  I had been inverting when my local studio closed and thought I was doing well.  However, when I found sv discovered I had to backtrack and learn inversions correctly.  I highly recommend the year membership, the cost is sooo reasonable.  Follow in order as much as possible, don't rush ahead and be patient with yourself.  Don't compare to what others are doing and time frame, everyone is different.

My membership ran out and I can't wait till I can sign up again, especially for the flexibility and other training videos she has now.

Everyone started at different levels of fitness.  I started at 52 yrs old and had been very active in power flex and aerobics at local gym.  I thought I was totally in shape for pole, but found that it was almost like starting over with fitness.  It is so different than anything I've done physically and had to work my way up with strength, stamina, etc.

What kind of pole do you have?  Welcome to sv which is full of encouragement and support 🙂

I started with no dance experience and after 2 years of pole dancing still can’t do a push up to save my life, but I can climb the 15 ft pole and do inverted moves that I never thought I would be able to do (even gracefully LOL). Just start and remember not to compare yourself to other students. Just go at your own pace and be proud of each accomplishment. Pole dancing is like opera. People either love it or they don’t. If you love it, you will be addicted to it and you will just keep trying and trying until you get it : )

hi breanne https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif  it's true, the lessons are designed for total beginners with no experience, all the way to advanced level.  i started out with the beginner lessons and followed them in order, now i am finally getting toward the end of the advanced section after one year.  there is alot of support here, too – and, you won't find a better deal anywhere!!  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
