Polers in Europe
Hi Veeners!
My friend and I will be backpacking across Western Europe from May to early June and I was wondering if any polers would be interested in meeting up or perhaps directing me to their favourite local studio that has drop-in sessions? I'll probably end up doing a lot of street poling as a result of being away from my pole for so long.
Places on our intinerary at the moment (in order of travel): Amsterdam — Brussels — London — Dublin — Madrid — Ibiza — Barcelona — Paris — Milan — Rome — Venice — Salzburg — Prague
It is quite the ambitious trip, we know. We will definitely need a vacation after our trip! (Good thing the Pole Convention is 2 weeks after I come home – ha ha.)

hi there!! am from PARIS, drop me a line when u're around ;)!i dont have my own pole, i just go the studio!I dont know how much is "drop in sessions" in US (I presume u'"re from there), but in Paris it is quite expensive

i'm from the Netherlands….if you are visiting Amsterdam I can recomment http://www.rasa-lila.nl …it's the best studio in Amsterdam based on yoga-roots…

I'm from Madrid. In Spain it's hard to find a good studio or place where you can learn or practice pole.
In Barcelona, Chiqui Marti have a studio. She is famous and sometime appear in tv shows. Her web http://stripartstudio.com/scripts/index.php
In Madrid, there are a couple of studios but I don't heart anything good about it…
In Ibiza, I don't know.. but I recommend you going to Cala Bassa, beautiful place

I think we'll be skipping Ibiza and Madrid now but will be spending more time in Barcelona and Prague. Really trying to make sure we're there for the experience as opposed to seeing everything but not really enjoying anything.
ahlemh2001, how much are drop ins in Paris? I'm in Canada and "one time classes" usually go for around 19 euros.
Also, I cannot believe the differences between North American websites and European websites. Trying to figure out schedules and bookings (e.g. trains, planes, tours, etc) has been quite the learning experience. ha ha.

Hey! I think it is around 30e!!see very f** expensive! I know as a former backpacker that budget could be indulged in some other stuff :)!maybe by that time I 'll have my own pole, then u'll be very welcome to my place, who knows?!:)

I am also American (presuming you are) and I live in west Germany with my own pole. There are no studios within an hour of me, unfortunately. But there are studios in Berlin, Luxembourg, Munich, Essen, Heidelberg, an many more! PS. Alethea Austin is also touring Europe right now. Check out her website for info: aletheaaustin.com . I don't go to any studio to pole dance… but i'm on facebook of this studio http://www.feelingwoman.com it's in Barcelona, and at the moment it's the only i know have offered pole classes for men xD But i can't assist for work things…

Thanks everyone! I've messaged a couple of you but I'm not sure if the mail is being sent properly.
This sounds really silly, but for all of the non-English speaking countries (my French & Italian are extremely basic), do you think it would be really difficult for me to join a class? I don't mind observing and following along in the corner (I'll probably stick to the lower level classes since I can just watch and learn new transitions or whatever) but I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb (more so than I would anyways).
ahlemh2001, 30e is something I'm willing to budget for in my trip! I've added "pole fund" to my backpacking budget. I love going to different studios, so it's worth the money. 🙂

hey then u have a couple of studios in Paris, some have basic english some I think pretty fair as they are used to have international polers such as alethea, natasha wang and so on. regrading the prices of hotel, u should check hotel Ibis and so on.

I've never taken a class with her, but one of my favorite pole performers runs a school in London– Elena Gibson's "Pole Dancing School." If I were passing through London, I would take a class! http://www.poledancingschool.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=62

One of the girls I used to teach with actually recommended Elena's studio since she took a couple classes there when she was in London and said it was fantastic. I have to compare her studio and Justine McLucas' studio and make a decision. I have a feeling it might just come down to timing/location.
