    I am not sure if this is the right category.

    I have a few questions about grip and grip aids. I have danced on and off for almost 2 years but I havent really danced for real until the latest 4 or 5 months. I have had some back and neckproblems and now they are better so i can dance more.

    To my questions. I have some problems with sweaty hands. Some days more than others. And i keep wiping my hands and my pole. I have tried Dry hands and mighty grip but I feel it only lasts for 20-30 minutes. Some sweat is ok I guess but when it is this much I just keep slipping and its not that fun to just stop what I am doing to wipe. I want flow in my dance.

    What aids do you feel is the best? And is there something I can clean my pole with to help? I've read in another thread that it gets better with time and as you get better and stronger? Is this true? Do you have any good tricks? 🙂

    I know there are quite a few that love tite grip (englann86 has a few posts on here regarding it) for awesty hands.  She will layer it up to 8 times (I think she said).

     

    There are some other threads around regarding using multiple grip aids.  I was just at a performance this past weekend and the pole girls had multiple aids with them just beacuse they did not know what the temp was going to be at the hall.

    I hate to say this but there really is a lot of information here regarding all of the different grip aids if you just do a quick search.

    Yeah the old Tite Grip I original, you had to reapply more often. But the new Tite Grip II lavender, you don’t have to reapply as much. Much stinger, lasts longer. The main trick is to apply 30-60 minutes before warming up. This is to have it activate in the pores and sweat glands, and act as a true antiperspirant grip aid.

    As you will see if you start reading earlier grip-aid-threads here in the forum, some are recommending Tite Grip as a "foundation" to prevent sweating, which I personally also give my vote for. In my opinion, Tite should be applied (once or several times) and rinsed off (residues will make you slip) before starting the exercise. 

    Then, when starting poling you can apply another grip that you think works ok for you. I usually go for liquid chalk, which you can order from here if you don't have it and feel like trying (I can see you are in Sweden):

    The chalk works like a sweat absorber and isn't one of the sticky products like mighty grip or iTac2.

    I havent tried this Tite Grip. The only grip aids I have found here in the Swedish shop is Dry Hands and Mighty Grip. (White powder). I am waiting for an order from usa with a top and Tite Grip but it takes so long. 🙁

    I have read some threads and that article and it was helpful. I was on a competition here a few weeks ago and in between every compeditor they wiped the pole and put on something on the pole. They asked if they wanted it so I guessed it was a grip thing. Anyone knows what this is?

    Just to clarify (and thanks Chemmie for the shout-out), I only use up to 8 layers of Tite Grip for public performances when I’m pretty nervous and have extra sweatiness because of it. I love that it works in that situation. During a normal practice I’ll only apply it one to three times depending on the conditions that day. 🙂
