After a yr of poling and playing around with alot of different grip aids (and I mean alot), I have finally discovered that a smaller pole helps significantly. So much that I find I can’t use my pole at home. I have a 50mm chrome x-pert pole and I hate not being able to practice so I really need a smaller one. I’m tossing up between brass or a titanium pole in the 45mm. The studio I go to uses stainless steel and while it is better than my chrome, I still need to wear gloves or use dry hands ( I don’t think I will ever get past that). I’ve seen alot of different things regarding the brass poles, but I’ve also been told by my instructor it can cause damage to your hands. Does anyone have any advice on the titanium???? I have sweaty hands but the rest of my body grips fine. Any help would be appreciated xxxxx

I've not tried titanium myself, but someone at Xpole told me gold titanium is more grippy than the silver matte version (although I don't think all countries have the silver as an option)

If your body sweats, brass can be over grippy on your body. I started outwithdry skin on my brass and it was fine, but once my body started sweating on my legs the grip became too strong and it feels like my leg skin is gonna tear. I do not know if that would be the case with an x pole brass as girls have said their are a little slipperier than the brass I have.

TG is good for body grip. It doesn't stick nearly as much as brass. I believe it works with dry and sweaty skin. As for sweaty hands, I did slide with my hands on a TG, but I also do a little on my brass. Just use tite grip and dry hands while poling, and put drysol or certain dri on your hands nightly to get the sweating to decrease/ stop.

If you are a sweaty girl, go with the TG. If you are dry, either might be good, but Veena said she struggles on brass and has dry skin. I had to use grip aid with my dry skin no matter what pole I was on.

PS: I don't find any difference in "hand tearing" between the TG or brass. Both give friction burn on my wrists. If you are doing a lot of spins, either will give you blisters. I even got blisters and pole burn from stainless. Once a pole is warm it will grab that skin and pull. Developing caulloses on your hands will help prevent blistering and tearing, but that comes with doing spins and having that brief hand soreness.

The titanium gold is very grippy…BUT if you tend to sweat you might find you'll slip!! I use the TG xpole (it's my fave!!!) and it's great if you live in a colder climate and don't sweat much. If you have sweaty hand slippage on the Chrome you'll more than likely have it with the TG. So if your trying to work around sweaty hands Brass might be the better option. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Well I love using mine when it’s humid, because my skin is normal to dry. I wouldn’t worry though a dancer can learn to work with any finish really 🙂

It’s definitely humid here in aus 🙂 i’ve dealt with the sweaty hands problem for awhile now so either pole sounds like it would be easier. Thanks so much for the help so far everyone 🙂 xx
