your opinions needed please!!!
Posted by PixiLouBell on March 10, 2012 at 12:08 pmok im sorry if this is a sore subject but i really need input from people that have used BOTH PS stand alone and Xstage. ive decided after much thought to go with a stage since my ceilings r not as sturdy since it is a trailer, im already having trouble again after moving my lil mynx to a diff spot, ceiling is crackling again, i kno i said i love USA made but from the comparisons ive seen xstage looks more sturdy, so im leaning toward that and having the pole powdercoated. thank u so much for ur response

I have a powder coated and love it. Worked out on a brass pole last week, and didn't care for it actually.

i kno i really love powder coat except on sm to superman!! :/ lol have u tried either of the stages lyme??

I tried the Platinum Stages pole, which I liked. But never was on an X-Stage. According to the comparassions though from this site, the X stage looks like the better pole.

Me, I prefer x- pole aka X-stage for the following reasons.
1. The pole is higher and in their demo. they didn't go 10 feet to 10 feet comparision/ stability. Their demo was 8 feet to 10 feet and so, not a true comparison mathematically.
2. Since someone was doing a trick on the PS and the pole part at the bottom came off I am not a fan.
3. It may take a few x-tra minutes to set up but safety first.
4. What I don't like about X-stage are the exposed extensions and would like to see X-pole provide attaching platform for circumference of the stage as certain things as in floor work can not really be done.
Furthermore, in my opinion there needs to be a new design for a stage pole that embraces some qualities of the PS & the X-STAGE.
I would only use an X-STAGE to pole outside at thebeach or ror demo purposes. I would rather say to install your own pole is probably the best if you can.

thanks girls and@ tovah- YES i totally agree, the pole not attatched to the bottom on PS is the kicker for me, pretty much the main reason im going to go with x stage lite. and the stage is the best option for me because my ceilings r not stable enuf. thnx again!!

first of all, i have to say that i have an x-pole and my pole studio uses PS brass poles. i prefer the PS brass poles over my x-pole. however, i loooooove my x-stage and i like it just as much as the PS brass poles. for some reason, it doesn't even seem as slippery as my x-pole. maybe cuz i use it more so it's warmer?
about my x-stage lite: i absolutely love it! i love it more than my x-pole. there are several reasons for this. it's very tall (almost 10 ft!), it's sturdy (still wobbles though), it spins way better than an x-pole, it comes with a platform so i could practice in heels if i want (i have carpetted floors). by the way, i don't even use the extra stability legs so they don't bother me. it's really not necessary, unless you're alot heavier or just starting out and don't know how to control your momentum.
The other thing is, i don't think the PS SSA is very safe! it's not very stable and the pole isn't locked in place. it comes off when you twist it! that means that if you're going in the wrong direction, it's come apart! i try to work both sides so this would not work for me and it's dangerous! the stage pieces are just like puzzle pieces that are also not locked in place so they might come apart as well. also, to get the same height as the XS lite on the PS SSA, you would have to get an extension which is also twisted on like the pole so there's no locking mechanism there. imagine the pole coming apart while you're up at the top. yikes! so scary to think about.
both stages come out to roughly the same price, after getting all the extras on the SSA (carrying case, extension), so why not get the better and safer pole? x-stage all the way!

PS changed the design of their poles to have EZ connect connections. They WILL NOT untwist as there is no twisting to put them together in the first place. Here is a vid Lizzy made of the connections: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zokVrGEUMrc
All the issues with the PS stage were with the older models, not the new one. They fixed everything that people were complaining about.
I don't really see how the pole not locking in is a big deal. You aren't pulling up when you are dancing, you are pushing down with your weight, so it's not going to come out. It just makes assembly and disasembly much easier. They also have velcro strips for the stage pieces to keep them in place. I will say that it always seems that the PS stage pole flexes much more than the x stage pole.
I personally think that each stage has it's benefits and drawbacks. It is up to the purchaser to determine which features are more important to them and to really research each product thoroughly.
I think you should watch videos of people dancing on each stage and see what you think then. I did try a PS stage not too long ago, and it wasn't bad like people make it out to be. The ONLY thing that makes me nervous (and it goes for the x stage as well) is the flexing, but that is unavoidable with a freestanding pole. The PS does have more flex that the x stage though. I kinda wish the piece that goes into the stage was wider like the x stage. A lot of people have said that the panels of the PS stage are cheap plastic. That isn't true. Yes, they are plastic, but they are really firm. They MAY scratch over time, but I'm not positive on that. Not sure if that will happen with the x stage or not, but I suppose it is possible if you get crazy in heels. The x stage seems that it would be easier to store as the whole thing folds up. The PS base doesn't fold up, so you'd have to hide it under a couch or prop it up somewhere.

this is true abt pushing down but with the tornado that ive been working on i pop up with my leg hooked to the pole, what if my leg pulled th pole up with my momentum?? the fact that its not locked in makes me nervous for some reason, idk i will research some more, thnx sensual, do u kno if the one in veenas comparrison is the older model?
-
I don't think you will be able to pull the pole up. 1) you are still pressing your weight on the pole in the move. It's more like you are using side to side momentum to get up. You would have to jump several inches to get it to pop up. 2) the insertion piece for the stage is several inches long. Watch this video to see the length of the inserion piece. You can see it laying on the ground throughout the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raQ90gYmGl4&feature=player_embedded
Philip Deal also installs his. You can see the bottom part at around 11:20 for a few seconds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhg6gG6o-a0&feature=youtu.be
If it truly makes you nervous, then just go with the x stage.

Rixi, if you're going to do anything aggressive get the x stage, you'll have the option to add extra weight and to extend the legs IF you want. If you like spin mode, you'll have to be pretty gentle with the PS stage unless you're going to stay low on the pole.
-
thank you veena! i do like the aggessive moves and spin mode so thank u, i noticed in your vid the x pole did look more stable on spin mode. thanks so much, and thanks sensual too, im going with the x stage brass. 😀
