Newbie here!
Hi!!
I’ve been lurking on here for a while now and I’ve posted once or twice but this morning I finally subscribed to Veena’s lessons (yay!!!!) so I thought its about time I introduced myself properly!
I’m 33 and originally from Liverpool, England, but now living in Scotland. I’ve only been poling for about 3 months but from my first attempt at a spin I was completely hooked. I was at a real low point in my personal life at the time and pole has given me an outlet to constructively express emotions that would otherwise have stayed bottled up, and it’s helped me to rediscover a confidence and affinity with myself that I lost sight of long ago. I love the challenge that it brings and the sense of achievement from nailing moves that seemed impossible when I first started and was unable even to hold my own body weight.
I also love the camaraderie among the pole community. In class we all get just as excited when one of the other girls pulls off a new move as we do when we manage it ourselves. And then there’s Studio Veena – what can I say?! I love this site!!! Everybody is so supportive and willing to give of their time to encourage others, both the members and Veena’s herself. In what other sport does that happen?!
I can’t wait to get stuck into the lessons tonight. I picked up a lats injury in class from inverting incorrectly so I’m determined now to start from the bottom and focus on strength and technique rather than rushing just to capture moves. I am so inspired by the folk on this site and by seeing what is possible given a little time and dedication. I can’t wait to get started properly and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all!!
