Studios in Birmingham, UK
Posted by GiedreB on March 25, 2012 at 9:17 amI will be living and working in Birmingham this summer and I was wondering if any of you know any good studios there? I've searched for some on the Internet but it would also be great to hear something from a personal experience 🙂 I hope there are some of you from UK, who could help me. I want to finally start my pole classes so baaaaad!!!

Hi! I currently pole at adage dance studio in the harborne area of Birmingham, its pretty good but only has 3 poles so sometimes there’s a bit of waiting during lessons (its not a specific pole school). They also do private classes but I’m not sure how much they cost.
I’d be interested to find out about any other pole studios in the area too, just because I haven’t heard of any! -
Thank you, debs 🙂 Well, I've done some searching and I found a few studios, which seem reliable, tell me what you think about them!
Here's one: http://www.pole-angels.co.uk/2.html
This one seems nice, they also have aerial silks and lyra, which I am DYING to try out as well: http://www.birmingham-dance-school.co.uk/#!
Here's the second link to the same studio: http://www.birmingham-pole-dance.co.uk/home
And their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/Birmingham.Pole.DanceAnd this one seems to be pretty far when I look it up in the map in their contacts: http://www.pytstudio.com/index.htm

No problem!
Danse vivante looks great! It seems like they have a good range of times for classes and I like that they don't have more than 3 to a pole 🙂 their prices seem reasonable too. If it wasn't hard for me to get there I'd consider switching and going there instead! Which part of Birmingham will you be living in?It's a shame Revolve doesn't have a bit more info on the website, makes me wonder whether they have a permanent studio or not because they haven't got any location information :-S
You might have to travel quite a way to get to PYT – its in America!

I thought I'd get mixed up between those two Birminghams, lol! 😀 Didn't zoom it out fully, haha. I will be staying with my friend, she recently moved, so I'll let you know when she gives me the address. Danse Vivante is opening a new studio on April 16th. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Danse-Vivante/263755333707723 In your opinion, is this a more reasonable location? The other location is in Northfield. And another one is in Harborne, although, I have no information about that one. Still, it's all just names for me now, I've never been to Birmingham before 😀

Sorry, the link didn't open. And that sentence should have started with "In your opinion…"

I don't get it, it still doesn't open the page for me from here, it adds " " to the ending of the address -.- Just delete that 🙂

Birminghams a great city 🙂 I only moved here in September last year but I love it!
It might be easier to figure out the best studio once you know where you'll be living, but at least you have a few to consider now! You could always try out lessons at a couple of places and see whose teaching style you prefer and how easy it is to get to each place too?
http://adagedancestudios.com/ meant to post the link to the place I go earlier but I forgot lol

Well, I've just found out that I will be staying in Huntly Rd, Five ways; is that a good place? 🙂

I just had a look on google maps and you'd be about a half hour walk away from Adage Studios in Harborne. If you had access to a car it would probably take you about the same time to drive to Halesowen to Danse Vivante?
Northfield would be a train journey away so it might end up costing more to go to the lessons there (and I have a feeling they don't use permanent poles as it's in a church community centre as far as I can tell.

Yes, I also thought that it's pointless to go to the studio in Northfield. I guess that when I come, I'll try both studios in Harborne and Halesowen and see, which one I like more 🙂 Thanks for your help, debs!

Youre welcome :), when are you moving over? Let me know what you decide!

Hello Giedre
I'm Rebecca I teach at all three dance school in Birmingham.
At all 3 dance schools we teach the same moves and combos and progress from there.
Pro's and Cons for each school:
Harborne: it is 15mins away from 5 ways but many buses run to it, however classes are very busy and sometimes there are up to 10 people on a pole.
Northfield: its 30mins from 5 ways but you can only get the number 29 bus, or the train to Northfield station takes 8mins from 5 ways station. Quieter than Harborne, no more than 5 to a pole.
Halesowen: Is my new studio that opens in 10 days, and there we do aerial, silks, lyra, and many dance styles. From 5 ways it is about 25mins on the bus, number 141 is the quickest from either Broad street or Hagley Road. There will only be 1-3 people on each pole as I will be teaching a lot more classes here. Also if you wanted to try the aerial I could do a cheaper price for aerial and pole classes whilst your in the UK
Rebecca 🙂

Thanks for the information, Rebecca. Actually, your new studio did seem to be the best for me. I'm sure we'll meet there 🙂

Hi Rebecca, I agree about the crowding at Adage but once I got above Bronze it didn't seem too bad anymore. I'm currently learning the gold moves so most weeks there's only a few of us (4-5) to a pole which is nice!
I'd be interested in trying out your new studio but I live in Alvechurch and don't have access to a car most nights so not sure how I'd get there! To get to Harborne I get the train to University and then walk but Halesowen looks a little further out to get to 🙁
