April 2012 Challenge?
I think I've only done one challenge–somehow it always passes me by–but I really want to start doing them, and I had an idea. What if this month's challenge is to do something that completely knocks you out of your comfort zone? So if you tend to do lyrical dancing to quiet, expressive music, try doing a really sultry, sexy dance to a rock song. If you like to do a lot of aerial tricks, do a lot of floorwork instead. And so forth. I think it might be a cool way to discover what other things people are capable of that they didn't even suspect.
Thoughts? Is that too vague?

Did you know that you can catch up on the challenges? So, they never really can just pass you by since they are always there for you 😉 Anyone could just start from January and do that challenge, label it as January 2012 Challenge, or something like that. I told myself I would do the challenges no matter what, even if I got behind. I don't want to give myself room to not do a challenge just becasue I am stumped with an idea for it, or even think that I hate it. I have found the challenges so far to be really challenging for me and who I am as a dancer–what is my style, etc. So I guess what i am essentially trying to say is that the challenges this year already have been covering the suggestion you are mentioning. But that is just my persepective.

I often think about going back to check challenges in case I am ready (and willing LOL) to do a challenge I may not have felt ready for before.
Also, a footnote, I think a while back it was suggested to not use the word "challenge" in a thread topic for challenge ideas, etc. So that it won't be confusing for when veena actually posts a monthly challenge topic. When I see a title like this one, I immediately think it's the actual challenge post.
I hope I was not dreaming and that I saw the suggestion to not use "challenge" in thread title if it's not the actual challenge by veena. If I'm wrong, someone please let me know. Also v, let me know if I was dreaming 🙂

@JelliCrew: Yeah, I do know that I can do challenges whenever, but for some reason I never quite want to after the month has passed. I know, it's weird.
@hookedonpole: Really? Darn, sorry, I had no idea–I must have missed that. I tried to make it clearer with the question mark, but now I can't change it! Oh well, I'm sure Veena or Webmaster can change it for me if it's a problem.
@HotelChick: Apparently I'm doing EVERYTHING wrong. I didn't see that! Was it in another thread that I missed? I tried to check the most recent few threads so I that I wouldn't be redundant.

@chumpchin – I think it was just discussed. No official post other than Veena mentioning she would be busy moving and might not be able to post it right away. I’m with you on the challenges, by the way. I like to do them in that month but creativity and song choice and timing aren’t always my friends 🙂 I like your challenge idea. I should try booty work or going left. That might end in a blooper reel. Lol!

I personally want to go back and do the old January challenge to spend a full song aerial. It would be fun because I remember when the challenge first came out and going “omg NO WAY could I do that.”

Oh just to be clear, it’s not so much the word challenge but putting the month yr and word challenge in a title that confuses people 🙂 its not really a big deal though!

Thanks for the clarification, veena, I thought I had remembered something from while back, but couldn't remember the specifics.
@chumpchkin, there are so many good ideas, like yours, and it's hard to keep up with everything. BTW, saw your video, awesome 🙂
